What is SEO?

SEO means search engine optimization. The role of marketing is creating visibility. If a customer can’t see you, then how they will reach you? To increase that visibility, SEO is essential. It is the process of getting traffic from the organic, editorial and free search results on search engines. Google, Bing & yahoo provides primary search results to the searched query. The search engine displays results relevant to the user, so it is essential to make content relevant to customers and users.

Google is a famous and most used search engine. Before understanding search engine & SEO, understand an example of a librarian explained in the video. Google works the same way. The search engine has a library of content, which provide results to people according to their requirement. Google receives 40000 queries every second, 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year. This show how much we are depended on search engines. 

Google executes all query with proper navigation, so how does it do that? Let’s see how search engines work. Search engines work by: 

  • Crawling hundreds of billions of pages using their web crawlers. 
  • These web crawlers are commonly referred to as search engine bots or spiders.
  • A search engine navigates the web by downloading web pages and following links on these pages to discover new pages that have been made available. 

Every search engine has a secret recipe for the algorithm. For higher ranking, have ingredients in your websites that search engine needs for a recipe. This is called search engine optimization. Now, what are the ingredients that help search engine? They can be words, titles, links, words in links and reputation. 

Google counts as valuable websites, which includes a link to other platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Linking all these platforms on a website is called link building. The title is also considered important in SEO. So keep it long and informative. There are so many factors that affect SEO ranking, which is listed by Google. So this way, SEO and Search engine works and by doing necessary changes on web pages. You can rank your site in search engine results.

On-site optimization includes things like including relevant keywords in the title tag, optimizing your website for mobile, creating a clear site map, having a mobile-friendly website. Backlink building includes things like getting links from other websites to increase your website’s page rank within search engines. Keyword research is the process of identifying phrases that are searched frequently in order to optimize your content or websites to match those terms.

Webmasters can use this software to find out which keywords their customers use most often when searching online and then optimize their websites for those keywords.
