How To Install Google Tag Manager?
Google provides this tool. Tag Manager gives you the ability to add and update your tags for conversion tracking, site analytics, remarketing, and more.
Google tag manager is a free tool that makes it easy for marketers to add and update website tags with just a few clicks and without needing to edit your website code. Google tag manager (GTM) consists of three main parts:
Tag: A snippet of code (usually JavaScript) added to a page.
Triggers: It defines when & where tags are executed.
Variables: Variables use to receive or store information to be used by tags & triggers.
Before GTM, the JavaScript on the website or mobile app had to be hardcoded. This means, to make even the slightest changes, a developer team was required. But now, GTM gives a friendly user interface that walks through creating tags step-by-step. To start, you can add the custom generated tracking code, also called container tag, to your website or mobile app. With the appropriate user permissions, GTM allows anyone to add, change and debug tags for a website.
GTM & google analytics are entirely separate tools. They are not fully dependent on each other, but as they say, ‘Google loves Google’. Therefore, it should not be surprising that they work very well together. Let’s see what GTM does.
For example, suppose you need to track resource downloads on your websites like pdf, docx, or anything else. In tracking, it’s essential to know two things: how many people downloaded the file and what page the user was on when it was downloaded. For this case, GTM allows you to easily set up a Click trigger & use google analytics to see what & where resources are being downloaded without needing to add any additional code to the site.
GTM is special because:
- It is free
- It allows you to do all things by your self
- It offers cool features with google analytics
- It can easily track more things
Let’s see how to set up a GTM:
