A landing page should be relevant because user land on your site with some purpose. All necessary information should be available there. It must be an attractive page, or else your user will bounce. There are three categories of landing page: standalone landing page, microsites and internal website landing pages.

This three-category can further divided: click through, lead capture, infomercial, viral, product detail, and homepage.

Click-through landing pages aim to warm up visitors to your unique value proposition before sending them deeper into the site.

A lead capture landing page is for gathering personal data from the visitors like name and Email ID. These is often referred to as Squeeze pages.

Infomercial pages mostly contain offers on products. It is a kind of promotions.

Viral landing page promotes word of mouth marketing through social networks like Facebook, google+, etc. It also tells their friends about what they found.

Microsites is a brand-specific website (or a single web page) that companies use to promote their products, events, or campaigns.

Product details landing page created specifically to convince a visitor to convert on a product-related offer not to display all products.

A home landing page is the main page of the website. It is the laziest of all landing page types and performs worst when it comes to conversion rate.

When you create a landing page, it should be goal specific. Based on customer requirements and needs, design a page. It should consist of a logo, attractive headlines, offers & details, CTA, etc.

To increase conversions, write engaging content & make an effective landing page. Provide information on why the user should buy your products. By increasing purchase in the same amount of users, your ROI will increase. So do the necessary change and improve the conversions for the website.
