Types of Sketches in CATIA V5

The sketch is the most basic prerequisite for creating any solid model's base feature. A sketch is created in the Sketcher workbench in CATIA. Choose the down arrow to the right of the Sketcher button in the Sketcher toolbar to open the Sketcher workbench; a flyout displays.

Toolbar for Sketch-Based Features:

  • Use the View -> Toolbars -> Sketch-Based Feature (Extended/Compact) command to change your display mode.

We can use the Sketcher workbench to build and edit 2D geometry. You can impose restrictions on geometrical elements.

Sketching has a role in the design process as a tool or skill. That element will change depending on the final product, the project's size and scope, the individual creator's style, experience, and work method, and the customer's preferences.

The principles of the CATIA V5 R21 Part Design workbench are covered in the Part Design course. The strategies for creating and editing designs and feature-based solids are investigated. Sketch-based features, dress-up features, and patterns are among the subjects covered in this course.
