There are four selection methods in CATIA V5. They are Point, Box, Circle and Lasso. Point is the most basic selection method which selects one point at a time. Box selects all points within the box drawn on the screen. Circle selects all points within the circle drawn on the screen and Lasso selects all points within a lasso drawn on the screen.
There are many different selection methods, but the best one will be determined by the specific needs and requirements of a given situation.
If you simply want to choose points and surfaces, for example, use the Point Filter and Surface Filter icons as illustrated below: If a type is deselected, it can no longer be selected in the geometry until all other types are also deselected.
To ensure that the points are seen on the raw image, they must first be placed on the ground with clear surrounds. A point on the ground next to a towering structure, such as a building or tree, is more likely to be occluded in the ortho-ready image.
