A rod or rod cap is a device with a head at one end and a shaft at the other, that is inserted into an opening in a piece of material. The head is generally round or flat and can have holes, slots, or other shapes. The shaft can be straight, curved, or bent and may have threads on its outer surface. The term "rod cap" is often used interchangeably with "cap nut".
