To alter the units used in the SOLIDWORKS design environment, go to Tools>Options>Document Properties>Units. In the bottom right-hand corner of the SOLIDWORKS screen, there is now a popup menu for units.
IPS are the International System of Units (inch, pound, second) MMGS (Massively Multiplayer Game System) (millimeter, gram, second)
Modify the units of measurement used by the Measure tool in the Measure Units/Precision dialogue box. To change the units of measurement, do the following: In the Measure dialogue box, choose Units/Precision, then choose from the settings below, then click OK.
