How to create new dimension style and which are the options

  • Autocad is a 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software used for the engineering industry. There are many features that Autocad offers to help with the design process, but one of the most important ones is dimensions. Dimensions are a way to provide more information about an object in a drawing. They are also used to ensure that all drawings have uniformity and accuracy.
  • Dimensions can be created in two different styles: linear or angular. Linear dimensions are drawn as straight lines, while angular dimensions are drawn as arcs at various angles around an object.

Entering dimensions in Autocad is a simple process. There are two main methods of entering dimensions:

  • Entering dimensions using the input line command
  • Entering dimensions using the mouse.

When you are drawing a line, you will notice that there are two small boxes on either side of the screen. If you have not yet entered any dimensions, then these boxes will show the current distance between these points. When you want to enter a dimension for your line, simply type it into one of these boxes and hit enter or click on one of them with your mouse.

This section will help you learn how to change your dimension style settings. If you want to change the dimension style, you need to go into the Dimension Style tab and then select the desired type of dimension from the list. The Dimension Style tab is located in the Properties panel. You can also access it by right-clicking on a selected object and clicking on Properties.

The dimension style settings are for setting the line and fill patterns of a graphic. There are four types of patterns: solid, dashed, dotted and wavy:

  • Solid – A solid line has no gaps in it. It is the default setting.
  • Dashed – A dashed line is a series of dashes that have spaces between them.
  • Dotted – A dotted line is a series of dots that have spaces between them.
  • Wavy – A wavy line is a series of wavy lines with spaces between them

  • The Dimension Style is a tool which allows you to choose the distance from the front of your object to the back. This will control how much perspective there is in your artwork.
  • The different options for this tool are Flat, Dimetric, Isometric and Trimetric. The Flat option will be a 2D image with no perspective which means that all objects will appear at the same size regardless of their position on the page. The Dimetric option is similar but it has one axis of perspective so that objects get smaller as they get closer to you and larger as they get further away from you. The Isometric option has two axes of perspective so that objects get smaller as they get closer to you and larger as they get further away from you while also appearing at an angle.
