OSNAP Command in AutoCAD
Now in this video, we will learn how we can snap any object with the help of OSNAP Command.
Whenever we are drawing any object or, for example, let us take any line, and then drawing another line from its one end, we think it's perfectly joint and made. Still, when we zoom in, we realize that the two lines are very far apart and can never be perfectly joined. So to draw perfectly from the end line, what we can do?
For that, we will take the help of one of our drafting tool, ie. Osnap. Osnap is nothing but Object Snap. It has its shortcut key as F3. It will get ON once we press the F3 key from our keyboard.
We will go to drafting settings and then from that to 'Object Snap' and clear all the snap modes, and select Endpoint and Midpoint. After doing this, press OK.
If we try to draw a line from other lines endpoint, it will be perfectly joined and made. We can zoom in as much as we want, but it will not snap it.
If we want to draw some object from the circles centre, we will again go to Object Snap Settings and mark Centre and Quadrant from Object Snap modes.
Now, as soon as we go to the circle's centre, there will be one specified circle centre point, and now we can draw any object from that specified centre point of the circle.
And we have also chosen a quadrant point, so we have a four-quadrant of the circle, and from there, we can also draw any object such as the line from four different quadrant points.
If we want to draw a perpendicular line to any other line irrespective of the line be at a 90° angle, we will go to Object Snap Settings and select Perpendicular from Object Snap modes.
Now we will draw a perpendicular line to any other line irrespective of the line be at any angle. There will be one vertical sign when our cursor moves toward the steep point of the line.
Now suppose if we want to draw a parallel line to any other line or object, we will go to Object Snap Settings and select Parallel from Object Snap modes.
Now we will be able to draw a parallel line to any other object or string. For that, we need to once touch the source line from our cursor as we want our line to be parallel to it.
Now suppose if we want to draw any object from the intersecting point of any two lines, we will go to Object Snap Settings and select Intersection from Object Snap modes.
Now we will be able to draw any object from the intersection point of any two lines.
Now suppose if we want the centre point of any rectangle, or suppose we have taken a polygon of 7 sides in we want to know its centre point, so for that, we will go to Object Snap Settings and select Geometric Centre from Object Snap modes.
After doing this, we will be able to find a geometric centre for any closed figure. This option also works for uneven polylines and object made from splines.
Similarly, we can extend any line from its endpoint by using the Extension option from Object Snap modes.
Now suppose if we want to draw a line from any part of the line, not from the endpoint or midpoint but the line's remaining portion. So for that, we can use Nearest Object Snap modes.
Now we will draw a line from any point of the line irrespective of it being midpoint or endpoint.
To select any text or attribute text, or if we want to move any text from one place to another, we can use Insertion from Object Snap modes. it will allow our text to move to another place.
