There are many ways to use the pen tool. One of them is to make a section of an object. The Pen Tool can be used to create a path for any shape or form that you want to create. Select the Pen Tool and then click and drag your mouse on the canvas (or artboard) and release it when you want it to stop drawing. You can also change the color of the Pen Tool by clicking on its icon in the toolbar, or by pressing Ctrl+C (or Command+C) on a Mac, and then using the paint bucket tool with that color selected in your toolbar.
