An AutoCAD isometric drawing, like a paper drawing, is a two-dimensional drawing. AutoCAD gives some, but not many, tools to assist us in constructing the drawing. ... First and foremost, we must switch AutoCAD to isometric mode. The SNAP command is used to enter this mode.
By aligning objects along three principal axes, you may simulate an isometric view of a 3D object. A flat representation of a 3D isometric projection is a 2D isometric graphic. This drawing method allows you to quickly produce an isometric representation of a simple design.
In AutoCAD 2014 and earlier versions, create an isometric drawing:
Enter the command DS on the command line. This window will open the Drafting Settings window. Make sure the Isometric snap radio button is checked on the snap and grid tab. To close the drafting settings window, click OK.
To go from orthographic to isometric drafting, select any of the Isoplane options. The other way is most likely the most popular. Toggle Isodraft on or off by clicking the Isodraft symbol in the Status Bar. Choose your isoplane mode by clicking the small down arrow just to its right.
