Internally, React Redux makes the Redux store accessible to deeply nested related components via React's "context" functionality. This is generally handled by a single default context object instance provided by React as of React Redux version 6.
Even with Redux Toolkit, Redux can be overkill for simple applications. Context, on the other hand, isn't a Redux replacement.
A React app can use the React Context API to generate global variables that can be passed around. This is an alternative to "prop drilling," which entails passing props from grandparent to child to parent and so on. Context is also marketed as a simpler, lighter way to Redux state management.
