Input validation is a method of systematically rejecting or accepting input according to a set of rules. Before processing user input or data from untrusted systems, this is a basic software coding technique.

Input validation prevents data from entering an information system that has been incorrectly formatted. Because detecting a hostile user attempting to attack software is challenging, programmes should examine and validate all data submitted into a system.
