It's called JSX, and it's a JavaScript syntax extension. It's best to use it alongside React to describe how the UI should look. JSX looks like a template language, but it has all of JavaScript's capabilities. React "elements" are created via JSX.

JavaScript XML is abbreviated as JSX. We can write HTML in React using JSX. In React, JSX makes it easy to write and add HTML.

JSX is a JavaScript Extension Syntax that allows you to combine HTML and JavaScript together easily in React. In React, this is straightforward JSX code. However, because this JSX is not genuine JavaScript code, the browser does not understand it. This is because we're using HTML code to assign an HTML tag to a variable that isn't a string.

In web development, HTML is a critical language. Your code is either written in HTML or compiles to HTML so that browsers can understand it. JSX, on the other hand, stands for JavaScript Syntax Extension or, as some prefer to call it, JavaScript XML. It was built as a React syntactic sugar.

Without using the createElement() and/or appendChild() methods, JSX allows us to write HTML elements in JavaScript and insert them in the DOM. HTML tags are converted to react elements using JSX. Although JSX is not required, it does make writing React applications easier.
