In a nutshell, cyber law governs computers and the internet. The expansion of electronic commerce has prompted the need for more active and effective regulatory procedures to further enhance the legal infrastructure that is so important to its success.

The Information Technology Act (IT Act) and the Indian Penal Code both encompass cybercrime. The Information Technology Act of 2000, which went into effect on October 17, 2000, regulates cybercrime and electronic commerce. In the year 2008, the IT Act was revised. The Act establishes the definitions and penalties for cybercrime.

This Act is divided into 90 sections. The Information Technology Act of 2000 in India attempted to incorporate legal ideas found in several similar laws (related to information technology) adopted earlier in other countries, as well as various information technology law guidelines.

Cyber law is one of the newest and most profitable legal careers today. In the realm of law, there are numerous job options. In recent years, this has become one of the most challenging employment fields. Cyber law students are in high demand and earn a good pay.
