Hello friends.
Welcome to Learn Vern.
I am …., Welcome you all to today’s video.
In the last video, we learned about a drawing tool which was an ellipse and arc.
In today’s video, we will learn about one more drawing tool which is a rectangle.
So come let’s start with today’s video.
In this video, we will learn about one more drawing tool that is a rectangle.
Here on the display, there are many shapes available where this is a rectangle which is a default shape, this is a chamber…I have used the elevation command to prepare this shape, then this shape is available… here where the corners are in a curved shape that is chamfer…I have drawn this shape with some thickness and this shape with some width…
So what are these exact shapes that are available here?
And how can we draw these shapes?
So first of all, we will learn about this shape which is a basic shape of any rectangle.
(01/32)
To draw a rectangle, I can use the shortcut key or select a rectangle from here directly too. Okay. So I am using the shortcut key R E C which means, the shortcut key for the rectangle is R E C and press enter.
As soon as I select R E C and enter,(3seconds pause) these shapes are available to me such as chamfer…., elevation…., filet…., thickness…., and width…. These options are also available but we will look at them later.
So now here, I want to prepare a basic shape where, (11 seconds pause ;typing) I will select a point first.
Earlier I was just checking whether I had changed the settings to default after drawing this last one, default setting, which means that whatever I am drawing after that I have changed my settings to zero zero or not and we will learn. why it is important to do… so further.
So I was checking that.
So as I type R E C and enter, I have to specify the first point and then the second point,
you can see my rectangle is easily prepared.
Okay.
Then to prepare a rectangle if I have any specific distance then I can use the distance as well.
For example, if I type REC and here my requirement is I want to prepare a rectangle, so to prepare or draw the rectangle I will use the shortcut key.
so to use it, I will type R E C and press enter. As I type R E C and enter, here I have to input information that , what is your first corner point.
So here, either I have a specific coordinate available X and Y, I can input that or else I can directly select a point from here and then again, here we have a specific distance that we have to prepare from this corner that specific distance such as if I have information available that I want to draw a rectangle of 2 by 4. which means that one coordinate will be 2 and the other coordinate will be 4, so 4. Sorry . 2 ..comma 4 …and enter…
So here my rectangle is drawn, where I can check with the help of linear dimension (4seconds pause ; cursor movement) if my requirement of 2 by 4 is fulfilled. Okay. So in this way, I can also prepare a drawing….
If I already have any specific corner points available or the diagonal distance is available to me such as I will select a rectangle and select this as my first point and then, I will enter the distance that is, 2 which is my diagonal distance and then, again click on enter.
So now I will check that the rectangle that is drawn here will have the diagonal distance… 2. Okay.
So we can prepare a rectangle with the help of coordinates and diagonal like this.
Clear so far…
Now, we will look at the second option. So the second option will also be available as I will type R E C and enter… because we will get all of these options with the use of one same command which is a rectangle.
So again I will type R E C and enter.
As soon as I type REC and enter, I will have a few options down here such as chamfer..elevation…fillet… thickness…and width…. All of these options are available.
(05/52)
Now first of all, I want to draw this shape. So to prepare this shape, I will select the option chamfer, to select chamfer, I will type C.. and enter..,
so as soon as I type C and press enter, one more detail is asked, that is “to specify the first chamfer distance”
which means, the distance from this endpoint till this point is the portion that is cut from the rectangle.
Then the distance from this corner point till here, we have to input both the information.
So I will enter the first distance that is 0.5 and press enter.
As you can see here, again we have to input the distance we want for the second point that is this point. What distance we need !
So again I will enter 0.5… because my requirement is that the cutting length for the shape that I want to prepare, the length of inclined lines should be 0.5 and 0.5 on both sides. So I will type 0.5 and press enter. Okay.
Then, I will make a specific point here and…(3 seconds pause ) my shape is prepared.
Now, while preparing this shape, if I have the distance of X and Y, then I can also mention the distance of X and Y here.
How? Come let's see.
Again I will type R E C and enter, then, I will go on one point, and then I have to select the distance of X and Y,
So suppose, I take my X distance as 2 and Y distance as 2 and comma and suppose that distance is… minus (6 seconds pause ) 4 and enter. Okay. So this shape is prepared here.
Why did I take a minus?
Because I have to select the direction of the coordinates for the shape I am drawing which means, I selected this as a first point, so if I want it in this coordinate, accordingly I had to input the value of X and Y,
I did not have the space available up , so I selected the X distance from here as a plus, and the Y distance was in the downwards direction so I selected it in minus.
So you can select it as per your requirement.
Now let us see how I prepared this elevation?
So to prepare an elevation, you have to keep one thing in mind, whatever command you use from here, to use that command first of all we entered a specific value.
Second thing, whatever value we input in digits, first. we have to input those digits as zero zero..
Why?
Because with that rectangle, suppose here I enter this, then whatever shape I draw will have the same value as it is,
so I have to change it to zero zero (0,0)first.
So for that, I will type R E C and enter and then I will type C and enter, here you can see the value is 0.5, so I have to change it to zero and press enter And change the second value also to zero and press enter,
So now the shape that I draw will be my default shape. Okay.
Now, I want the third shape, so for that, I can directly select rectangle from here or I can use the shortcut key REC, but this time the shape I want, I will draw one here then for the next shape I am taking some elevation… for example, R E C and enter and then I will type E.. that is elevation and enter.
So now I have to specify how much elevation I want?
So I am typing 0.5 for elevation and enter.(4 seconds pause) Then, I will draw one shape. then again I will type R E C and enter then again go on elevation and enter and I will take the distance as 0.8, and enter.
I will draw a rectangle once again so again rectangle, then elevation, then how much elevation do I want so 1.2 and enter.
(4 seconds pause ; clicking)
As you can see, I have a shape available here or a full drawing.
So you might be thinking what is different here?
So to see the difference, I have to use 3D view,
because if I press shift and select pan from the cursor then, you can see here that the drawing that is available here, ( 4 seconds pause ; clicking) consists of a rectangle and the elevation in those rectangles, as you can see the elevation that we have here in this drawing.
In this drawing the elevation of the first rectangle is.. zero, the elevation of the second rectangle is.. 0.5, the elevation of the third rectangle is.. 0.8 and the elevation of the fourth rectangle is.. 1.2.
This means the rectangle will be prepared as we select the elevation in that plain. Okay.
So if I have any requirement that I want to prepare a drawing with different elevations, then I can do it from here.
Again. we will go in view… and then top view.
So here we are back in 2D view again.
We will learn about these views and how I rotated earlier, that we will learn in the further lessons.
Then, the next option that is available for that,, I will type R E C, and then next option here is the fillet.
So how can I draw this filet?
But as I said earlier, if I want to go to filet from the elevation here, so for fillet I have to set the elevation as zero first. Why?
Because right now whatever command I will use or whatever drawing I will prepare will be drawn In a particular elevation and that is 1.2
So I want it back as zero, here I will type E and press enter and then change this 1.2 to zero. So again I will go to fillet and for that, I will type F… and enter…
So as soon as I press F and enter, now I am in the fillet command which means, my fillet command is ON right now.
So for that, here I have to specify again, how much radius do I want. okay. So for that radius suppose I want the radius as 0.5, so 0.5.. and I pressed enter. okay.
So this here is my first point and this will be a second point or the corner point.
In this way, I can easily prepare this drawing.
Clear ..
Then you have to keep one more thing in mind, whenever I enter anything here with a rectangle and if I have a specific dimension available as X and Y, that also I can input here.
So it is not important that you always select the corner point on your own, we can also input the value of any specific dimension.
The next command is thickness.
So before selecting the thickness command I will change the fillet command to zero-zero (0,0) again. So I will type REC and enter and then I will go…(3 seconds pause ) to fillet so, will type F and press enter, as I type F and enter, first. I will change this to zero.
(15/21)
As you can see, here the rectangle is converted into a basic rectangle with zero. This means we are no longer in the fillet command now.
Okay.
So now my next command is thickness.
So for thickness, again I will type R E C and enter and then, I will type T and press enter.
As soon as I type T and enter, here I am asked, (3 seconds pause ) to specify the thickness that I want.
So to know the thickness, first of all, we will see how much I want to specify according to my drawing.
Suppose I want the thickness so I will type T and enter, and the thickness I want Is 1, so I will enter the value 1 and draw a shape again. Okay. So here my shape is drawn. So you are watching this shape that we have from the top view, so from the top view, you will be able to see a rectangle only.
but it is drawn with some thickness exactly.
So come let's see.
(3 seconds pause)
So as you can see here, the drawing that is available to me, I prepared is actually with some thickness. Okay.
(4 seconds pause; clicking)
This is the difference when we draw any shape or any drawing with thickness and it gives us this output.
Again I will click on the view then the 3D view and then I will select the top view.
Okay guys !...
Now, we have one more command that is left which is… width.
Width means the borders of the rectangle that I want to draw here should be with some specific width.
To select the width, first of all, I will type R E C and enter, and here, I will change the thickness to zero, then I will type W that is width, and press enter.
Suppose I want the width of 0.5.. or I will select 0.2 ..here for now as we do not have much space available. Okay.
So here, I am selecting my first point and second corner point. Here you can see, I have a shape of rectangle available where the thickness of the lines is 0.2…
Okay !
So as per my requirement, I can easily use the rectangle command and draw it with any thickness that I want.
So today we learned what are the facilities and options available in the rectangle command and how we can draw our desired output with the help of a specific value.
I hope you all will practice this. In the next video, we will learn about dimension style.
