TOPIC: How to have Print And How to Design Plot In AutoCAD
Hello Friends! Welcome to Learn Vern.
I am (name) and welcome you all to our video.
In the Last Video, we learned Block Video, Limit set, and Toggle Keys.
Today we will Learn Print and Plot, as we know whenever we prepare a layout or any drawing that we prepare with the help of AutoCAD, to represent that drawing or to submit anywhere, either we take a print or save that as a file or we save it as PDF.
So today in this video, we will learn that if we have lots of drawings and want to make a PDF and take out its print, what options can we have with printing and plotting?
So as you can see this option of plot, you can take it from there and we can click on this or we can simply click here and then on print option and then further on the plot. and you click here, and from here you will click on print, and from there too, you can take the option of the plot.
So whenever we click on this Plot Option, here we have a Menu where we have lots of options to insert, after inserting those available options, it is our option that we want to save the file as a PDF or can save that file as a drawing or AutoCAD Drawing or can even take out a print of that file.
So, here we will type Plot and As we type plot, this option will be available to us….
So, Firstly we will Rename, i.e if we already have a page available, we can rename it directly here that means if we already have a page set up in the setting, or I have saved it in a setup. So, I can take it from there, As I select from here. so we can directly have all the options from here, then from here we can see we have Microsoft Print to PDF or a direct option is available for DWG to PDF.pc3 or Fax, that means we have a lot of options to choose from, then AUTOCAD PDFHigh-Quality Print, autocad pdf Smallest File.pc3, autocad pdf Web and Mobile.pc3, so as per our requirements, we can save it.
So, here we will firstly go to DWG to PDF, then we can also set up a paper style, mostly whenever we take a print with autocad or save that file as a PDF so there we normally keep the Size as A3, in which we can see we have two dimensions i.e X and Y coordinate that is Landscape or Portrait mode, that i can select from here so whatever is our requirement whether A3, A4 we make use of its ISO version.
Here we will use A3 size, so the first thing selected is Landscape Option, further as per the requirement as we can see the available options, we have four options available. The first one is Display, upon clicking on the Display option what all drawings would be available in this Display, all those drawings whether plotting or print, would by default get available there.

So, let's firstly see Display, then we can set the offset i.e if I want to keep an offset in y-direction and x-direction that means we want to leave a margin and take a print or want to make a PDF, then also we can specify from here, now if we don't want to set up the offset option of origin, if we don't want to give margin, then we can select on ‘Center the Plot’ Option, i.e the size of the drawing would be available in the center, then we can choose the plot scale, it would adjust itself in the plotting margin or if we wish to customize it then we can do it as well from the below-given options where we want the drawing bigger than the actual size or, smaller than the actual size, Or we want in some different scale. So we directly customize it from here, now if we have any specific number or unit, we can convert it as well. That means if it is in inches or mm we can change it as per our requirement.
Now, if we see this in the preview, For a preview, ..continue.., now you can see as we preview this what all drawings we had is already in the plottings and you can see it is exactly being placed in the center of the four-sided page,i.e the margins between X and Y is equally divided, now we can either escape this window or simply close the preview, As soon as we will go into escape clause or close preview, again the options would be available.
Now, let's take if the drawing is available like this… that means the display has been changed, now if we again go for the plotting option, then enter, here we select the DWG to PDF.pc3, then we can again set up the ISO A3 then we select on display, center to the plot, if take the preview of this, you can see that the working space, that the drawings available in the display, only those would be available for print or can be saved as PDF.

Let's check the second option, if we extend it,i.e what all drawings are available in this AUTOCAD or this Model, all those drawings would be automatically fit in the A3 Size, so if we go to the extent and do a preview, here again, the drawings which are not even in the display would be available here.
Let's check the Third option Limits, Limits is the only option where if we have set the limit, like in the previous video we set the limit from where I have to draw, if I wish to make any modifications out of that limit, we cannot make that changes, so if the limit is on here, all the drawings that would be available in here, the same drawings would be shown in the preview.
So you can see those drawings that are out of the limit, those drawings won't be available here.
Now the Fourth option is Window, i.e I can customize according to myself which means if we select the window option then all those drawings that I want to make available if I want to take this drawing so we will take window till here, then I did Fit to paper then center to the plot and we will take the preview of it, now you can see that only one drawing would be saved as a PDF or can be available for print. So this was a window option.
So whatever option you wish to choose from, here we have the options that give different views,i.e here if we go to the extent and select and choose Grayscale then we do yes and then we take the preview, you can see whatever drawings are shown turns into black and white, that means whatever your drawing is colored,.... but if we select another option so it would be changed accordingly, now let select monochrome…. and preview it you can see it has turned up exactly dark, the previous one was light, and the current black color has been made available. Moving further let's take further options like screening 100% that means if the screening is 100% as it is then the actual colors that were there would become available. If I change the option to screening 25% and take its preview then the darkness of the drawing would be changed to 25% and the whole drawing would turn light, similarly,.... if we increase it further, we can see the color of the drawing would be changed. So, all these options are available to us. we can also customize accordingly. If I want to customize it then, we will customize it from here as well.
12:08
Next, we have options for 3D, we won’t go in there, rest for orientations we can do it with plotting, then upside -down i.e the drawing would be made upside down which can be seen, so we can set up anything as per our requirement. (15 seconds pause) So, these both ways I can select pdf or print as per my requirement. ok?
13:02
Now if we want to save any page, we can even import any page setup or file. Next, we go to the properties option here, from there we will have many options available. If we want to save a page or customize it according to its size or want to save its setup, it can also be done from here. Another option we have is the previous plot, if I want to make changes to my previous plot, I don't need to manually change it, rather I can simply click on the previous plot, and all the previous options that were selected would be active and available. Hence, these are the options through which we can either take a print or save a PDF, so here we will go to the preview option then click on OK then upon clicking the Desktop option, the file would be saved in PDF. format or we want to take a print, so we have the available Printers, printers connected; then, it will show here, so directly we can in any size or high quality as per requirement, You can save it in pdf. This quality matters because whenever we zoom in and zoom out the Drawing, the drawings would be displayed in its limitations, so if we want high quality there, we can select as per requirements, then if we want JPG or PNG we can get it in these formats as well.
So, in today's video, we learned about Print and Plot, where we can save a Drawing file in PDF or want to take the whole or part of Drawing's Print and to set up in any page can be done with the help of numerous AUTOCAD options, whether in JPG or PNG or as a PDF format with any quality features the drawing can be saved with the help of AUTOCAD Tools.
I hope the drawings available to you, can be practiced with the help of these Print and Plot Features and If you have any queries or comments, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
