Hello friends.
Welcome to Learn Vern.
I am Ravi. Welcome you all to today’s video.
In the last video, we learned about layers and working with layers.
In today’s video, we will learn about some drawings which means we will practice some drawings today.
Okay. So right now I have a few drawings available on my screen where you can see a lot of different shapes like fillet, chamfer, a staircase, and a kitchen layout. So we have many drawings here.
As you all can see here we have many drawings, where we have a few layouts such as this staircase and a kitchen layout. If we talk about shape, then I have drawn a curve shape here, then a chamfer, then a filet on one side, and chamfer on another which means we have all kinds of drawing here from simple to complicated.. So today we will learn how to draw these drawings one by one.
Okay..??
First of all, we will look at this drawing where I already have the dimensions such as 50 meters, 20 meters, 20 meters, 20 meters, then the inside offset is 15 meters, the central length is 30 meters and this length is 60 meters.. So come let's start with this drawing.
First of all (Pause for 5Sec) I will click on the line command, then I will specify one point, then I want this length here 60 meters so I will type 60 and enter. Then down here I want 20 meters, so I will input 20 and enter. Then.. 15 towards the inside so I will type 15 and enter. Then downwards I want 20 so 20 and enter then towards outside again 15, so 15 and enter. Then towards down 20 and enter. And then here this side again I want this dimension 50 meters so 50 and enter and then I will connect here.. This shape has some extra length right now because we took the first command as 60 but the requirement is 50 here. So we can trim this length. So we learned in trim command that if you type TR and press the space key 2 times, then this length is easily deleted. Okay. Then I want to draw one more line exactly from the center and it connects here. Okay. So in this way, we can prepare this drawing here. And we can easily provide the dimensions here.
(Pause for 5 Sec)
Okay. If the dimensions are overlapping, you will select the dimension, and use the move command to move this a bit further. Or you can give the dimension again with the selective points like this. We will provide all the dimensions that are available there. Okay.
(Pause for 10Sec)
You can see here that I am selecting the dimension repeatedly. So here we have one more option. Our last command was dimension already so if I press enter again,
(Pause for 5Sec)
I don’t have to select the dimension again and it is visible here. So here we saw how to prepare this shape.
Now the next shape is this. So we will draw this shape where the length is 80 meters on both sides and then 40 and 40 is the offset here. Okay.
So to make this drawing, we will select the line command, then I will select a point then this side its 80 and enter. Then towards down its 40 and enter. Then side 40 and enter. Then towards down 40 and enter. Then this side again 40 and enter. And then 80 towards the top and enter. Press ESCAPE and you are out of the command. Then here I want to make a shape like a sink, so I will select the line command again, then I will draw a line from here to here and now if I want to draw a line again, I will not go to the line command instead only click enter. The line command will turn on automatically. Okay. Then I want to trim the extra length so TR and press space or enter 2 times, because in AutoCAD the space key works as an enter key.
Now again I will click on the line command here, then I will connect from here to here, then again line command so I will press enter again and I will connect this line. So this is our drawing. Here also if I want the dimensions, I will click on linear,(Pause for 5 Sec) then one more time, and now press enter. (Pause for 5 Sec)And enter. (Pause for 5 Sec) So in this manner, we can draw this shape and easily use the trim command here.
Now we will look at this drawing. I can see this drawing somewhat like a staircase layout, where the offset distance between these 2 lines is 10 meters and the first distance here is 20 meters.(Pause for 5 Sec) If I remove this, then it will be visible exactly as a staircase. So here this landing is 20 meters, and then all the other offsets are 10 meters. And we have 2 other dimensions, 60 by 80. So we will prepare that box first.. Okay. So line command, then a point here and this side I want 60 and enter, then towards the bottom 80 and enter. Then 60 enter..
And then 80 towards the top and enter. Okay. Now I want to draw a centerline here. For centerline, I have 2 options, either I can select the line command from here and draw a centerline like this, or I can use the offset command. Here I know the distance between these lines is 60 and I need a centerline, so I can type O .. and enter and then I have to specify the distance to set an offset of any object, so I want 30, either I press enter or space . Then I have to select an object, either this or this. If I select this, I have to click inside and my object is easily drawn. So this was an offset command. Then I want to draw these lines here. The distance between the first line and second line is 20 and then 10 between the other lines. So now we will draw the first line. Again I can use the line command and draw or use the offset command. So O and enter, then I want the distance here 20 and enter. So if I click in this direction, my line will be drawn inside and if I click in the upwards direction, my line will be drawn outside. This means we have to click in the direction where we want the offset. So I want to use offset again with the distance 10. So again O and enter, and I will insert 10 and enter.(Pause for 10 Sec) So in this way you can use offset. Okay. So now I want to remove this line, I will type TR and press enter. So we will press enter or space 2 times after typing TR. Then I will trim these 2 lines also. As you can see above the exact shape is drawn. Let's check the dimension for this too. (Pause for 10 Sec) After clicking I will press enter 2 times so that I can use the dimension command more than once. Okay. (Pause for 15 Sec) So in this way you can draw this shape with the use of offset and trim commands.
Here we have one more shape that is a rectangle of.. 80 by 50 in size. This means 80 in the horizontal direction and 50 in the vertical direction and here I have inserted a curvature and drawn a fillet and the radius of the fillet is 20. So come let's see how we can draw this.
So I can use the line command and make a rectangle or directly use the rectangle tool. We will see draw with both the commands. So first of all I will use the line command. Okay. As soon as I turn on the line command here I have to insert 80 and enter then the other dimension is 50, so downwards I will type 50 and enter, then again 80 this side and enter, and 50 upwards and enter. As you can see a rectangle is drawn here. Now I want to draw a fillet exactly of the radius 20 on all the corners. For that I will go… to fillet (Pause for 5 Sec) and click on it then I will select the first line and here I can see the radius option at the bottom so I will type R and enter, then I have to enter the radius, so 20 and enter. So now here we can see that a fillet is drawn connecting to this line and if I go here then the fillet will be drawn here, so I will click here and you can see that the fillet is prepared. Again I will press.. enter, then the first object, for radius R and enter, then 20 and enter, and here on this line, okay. One more time I will press enter, first object, radius, enter,.. 20 and enter. I am using ENTER here to use the same command that I used before again. This way I don’t have to select fillet from here again and again. So enter, then radius, enter, 20.. and enter. Okay. So we will check the dimension now. So linear. (Pause for 10 Sec) Now we will check the radius. (Pause for 5 Sec)
Okay. You can see here that the object is drawn according to my requirement with the fillet command.
Now if I want to draw a rectangle here, Rectangle, first corner, and in the second corner I will insert 80 comma and the second point that I want is in minus right now, so I will insert minus 50 and enter. As you can see I can draw this shape with the rectangle command as well. So I can insert the fillet command here but here this time I will select the radius 10. Okay. So that we can see the drawing with some change.. So R, enter, 10, and enter. You can see here… I am easily able to use this command and draw.. . Again enter, I will select the line, then R, enter, 10, and enter. Again enter, I will select the line, then R, enter, 10, and enter. We will check the dimension again.(Pause for 5 Sec) I am selecting here again and again to show you. Now I want to check the radius but the last command was linear, so I cannot use it with enter. As you can see, we have one more shape here where I used the fillet command. Okay.
Now.. the next drawing is with the chamfer tool.. Again here I have a rectangle and the dimension is 80 by 50. Okay. So we will draw a rectangle first. So again I can use the line command or rectangle command directly… You can draw with the command that is appropriate to you. So 80, enter, 50, enter, 80, enter, as you can see I am only inserting the dimensions here that I want. Again 80, enter, downwards 50, enter, then this side 80, enter, and 50 upwards and enter and ESCAPE. Here we have a portion that is trimmed connecting a line, so the dimension of this line is 20 by 20 and the dimension here is 10 by 10. This means that there is a cut from this corner that is 10 meters and here there is a cut of 20 meters. So the cut on the opposite sides is 20 each and here it is 10 and 10. So we will draw that here.
First of all, (Pause for 5 Sec) I will click on chamfer and then select a line and here I want to insert the distance so I will type D and enter. I want the distance 20, so 20 and enter.. As soon as I select a second line here, you can see the portion is trimmed easily. Again enter and distance, here we can also trim with the use of angle that we want to cut for this line. Okay. So here I will type D and enter then I want the cut of 20, so 20, enter. Okay… Now I want the cut of 10 meters for the top here which means 10 from this corner and 10 from this corner. So I will press enter again which means that I am using my last chamfer command again.. Okay. So I will select the first line, then I have to enter the distance, so D, enter then 10 and enter and I will press enter again and I will click on this line. Let's have a look again. I can press enter or select from here as well. So we will select this first line then D for distance and enter, 10 and press enter twice.
Come let's check the dimensions. (Pause for 5 Sec) We are checking the linear dimension right now. So we will exactly get the dimension horizontally or vertically between the 2 points. (Pause for 5 Sec) Okay. You can see that I have already explained how to draw this shape easily … Okay.
Let's have a look at this last drawing. Here there is a chamfer on 2 corners and a fillet on the other 2 corners. So here I am going to use both the commands in 1 rectangle. Okay. So here again the size is 80 by 50. First of all, I will draw a rectangle and we used the line command in the last drawing, this time we use the rectangle command. So I will specify the first point, then I will specify the second corner point and here I want the dimension 80 so I will insert 80 comma then I want minus 50 because the Y coordinate is in minus. So minus 50 and enter. So here our rectangle is ready. Now here my requirement is fillet on these 2 sides and chamfer on the other 2 sides, where the radius of the fillet is 10 meters and the cut for chamfer is 20 meters. So I will prepare for that. First of all, we will click on chamfer or we will type CHA. and enter, then I will select here, then D, enter, and 20, enter and enter again. So this is ready. I want to use chamfer again, I will select this line, then D, enter, 20, enter... Okay. So this is also ready. Now I will select the fillet command or I will use F and enter. Okay. The fillet command is On now. So first of all I will select the first line, then I have to specify the radius, so R and enter, 10, enter and I will click on the second line. I want to use the fillet command again, here I will not select the fillet command or use the shortcut key but just press enter. I will select the first line here then I want to specify the radius, so R, enter, then how much, so 10 and enter and I will select the second line. Come let us check the dimensions.(Pause for 10 Sec) Radius … Okay.
Now you can see here that we have prepared a shape with the use of chamfer and fillet commands.
One more thing, here we have prepared several drawings. So here we have to use zoom in or zoom out or pan which means I can use it like this with my mouse. But if you want to see all the drawings that you have prepared in a single window, then you have to use Z, enter and A, enter which is to zoom in all. So here I will type Z and enter, then A and enter. As soon as I enter this, all my drawings are visible here… Okay. In this manner, you can draw many shapes and you can also modify the dimensions that are assigned with the shape and to modify the dimension I have to type D and enter. Here I will click on modify and I can customize the color that I want for the lines, then line type and line weight, spacing, and I can also change the color of the extension lines. Here I have many options available. Then I can change the symbol, as I am changing here, it is visible in this layout. Then I can also change the arrow size, text size or text style. That is if I want to change the font of my text, here all these options are available to us. So I can change according to the requirements of my drawing. Okay. And I can also change the unit that is in the suffix as the whole word meter. So I can easily modify the dimensions according to my requirement. Then if I want an alternate unit as engineering in feet, so FT. So in this way, I can change this. Then I will have to click on set current and all the changes will be applied to all the dimensions that I have provided. Okay. So if I click on set current and close, you can see that I have the value of the dimensions in meters as well as feet. Okay. Again I will insert Z, enter, A, enter. So in this way, we can make many drawings and use different commands with shortcuts.
So In today's video, we did some drawing practice which was the first part.
In the next video, we will draw a few more difficult drawings and practice different commands and their shortcuts.
So I hope you will practice and apply this. During your practice,If you have any queries or comments, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
