TOPIC: Option for Block Edit, How to set Limit & Option with Toggle Keys In AutoCAD
Hello Friends
Welcome to Learn Vern
This side is (name) and I welcome you all to today’s video. So, in the last video, we learned about properties which means how to change the color of any object and its options which are available with it, and then how to modify lineweight and Light Type.
In today's video, we will learn about Block Edit, Limit Set, and about some Toggle Keys.
So, first, we will talk about Block Editing. In one of the previous videos also, we talked about block and how to create a block but today we will learn about the options available inside the Block Edit. So, for that, first of all here… I will make a figure for you all so that you can easily understand it.( 9 seconds pause, drawing)
Okay? so this is the object or a figure available. So why do we use a block command? We use the Block command because like the object present here, it's all different…. So, whenever we do some selection or modification or any types of changes, either we select the objects differently or at once by selecting the whole window.
We also have a facility available with Block, which is, if we try to make the block of this then whatever changes we apply, will directly apply to the inside of the object itself which means that we don't have to do the selection one by one. So, by clicking anywhere, the object will be easily selected. Even though we can do Grouping, Block is more advanced than Grouping.
So now we will see what all we can do with block and the options available in Block.
So, for the block, we will type "B" and the Block has appeared and now we have to rename it like what name we will give to our object. For now, we will name it "Block 1". Okay?
3:00
Now I have to specify the pick point. Either I can directly specify the pick point or if the coordinates were available then I can also pick that or if I want to specify it on the screen, I can do that also. So, like this, I will select my pick point, in this way. Next, I need to select what is my object. Either I can specify it with the one available to the screen or there is an option from which I can select the object. Next, from here I will make the selection window and then enter. And as i will enter, then I have three options and the first of them is Retain. Retain means that the block will be saved. Then we will see "Convert to Block" and "Delete". So now we will see what are the options available with Retain and we will also explore the annotative and the options available to allow exploding.
Then here Block Unit which means whatever unit we need; we can change it from here but for now we will not talk about it and then we can also create its link. So, if we click this, then we can see that the block will be saved into a link by this and if I want to use it in future, I can. Okay? So now we will go to Retain and click “Okay”. So, you can see that, when I clicked on “Okay”, the drawing did not convert into Block but I do have an option of the insert. So, when I search for “I” and click enter, as i will click on I and enter the block which I saved opens here. So, if I want to insert this Block then I select it and then I’ll specify the point where I need it to be pasted or inserted or if I have the coordinates, I can also give that.
Then if I want to change the scaling, I can also change that. So, if I want to change like if I want it's a half size, I can also change that from there. Okay?
5:40
We also have Uniform Scale and If I want it to be Uniform Scale, I’ll click on it. Then we will go on Rotation, so if by chance I want to change the angle, I can also change that but for now, I will take the angle as zero. And then I’ll direct it to “Okay”. So, when I click “Okay” then the Block will be available. So, the original figure is still present in different elements which means that this is not the block but the Block of similar kind we needed is ready. We will see it once again. “I” enter, and I have done the option Insert. So, if we change the scaling options then we can also change that and as per the angle, I’ll take it as 45 degrees. Then the Units which means that the unit we saved, if we want to change it from there then by chance the block we made is saved in millimeters so now if we want in inches, then I can insert it as insert and I can also insert the scaling factor. The angle is 45 degrees, so Okay and now we can see that the Bock we needed is here with rotation. Okay?
So, this is the first option. Now we will see the second option.
So, if I want to change this figure in Block so for that I’ll enter “b” and once again, I need to rename so “B” “L” “O” “C” “K” but before that we will do something. We will change the figure a little bit.
7:30
Now once again we will enter “B” then rename it as “Block 2” then I need to pick so I choose the pick point from here. Then I’ll select the option with the help of the selection window option. And you can see that the coordinates have come by themselves. So, then the units I need, I can change it from here or I want it to be in the link, I can also do that. Now we will do the option “Convert into Block”. Then we will go towards this side afterward and if I want to put some description about this object then I can also put that. Then “Okay”. Now you can see that the block is converted which means that the different elements present in it are converted into a block. ok? Now I will go to the option “Insert” and we can see that we have both “Block 1” and “Block 2” available. So, if I go for “Block 2” and give it a scale of 0.5 and enter, then we can see that we get an exact figure but a half time smaller than the original one. So, this is what we can do in scaling. Let’s try it once again. So, the figure is now a Block.
So now we will explore the third option.
So, for that, we will search “b” and then enter. Then either we can give the pick point or the coordinates. And I have selected the pick point. Then I’ll select the object and here I’ve selected the object. And at last, enter.
9:22
Then we have Delete. So, what are the things which will change according to delete? So, if I choose the option delete then the block here will be deleted but if I go towards the insert, then this block will be available. So here I’ll do “B” “L” “O “C” “K” and here also we will change that like the middle line…. and then “B’ enters, then pick point, then select object and from here I have selected the object with the help of a selection window. After selecting it I will enter “b” once again and select the option “Delete” and rename it as “BLOCK 3”. And now you can see that the object is finally deleted. But if I go towards the insert option, then I can see that the “Block 3” is saved but “Block 2” is not saved, which means that if I convert an object or a figure into the block and then delete it afterward, it will be removed from the insert option as well. But if I click on “Block 3” and insert it, then we can see it appears here. Okay? So, once again (10 seconds pause) we will go for “B” enter, select the pick point, then the selection of the object, and then rename it as “B” “L” “O” “C” “K” “4”. Now I have three options available.. in which there is an option of “Scale Uniformly” in which whatever the scales I have, will stay in that only. This means that in AutoCAD whatever we draw has a scaling factor. So, the drawing here as a Block will fit in the scale. This means that whenever I change it inside the scale, it will directly be changed. Then we have “Allow Exploding” which means that if I want to unblock it from the block, then I can also do that but for that, I need the option “Allow Exploding”. So, first, we will go without “Allow Exploding” and click “Okay”... Then we will insert and “Block 4” is available. Then we will explore this by selecting it and then searching for “E” “X” – Explode but we can see that it is not exploding, why? because when i created the block, I didn't give the tick mark, here in the future it can explode if required. Let’s try it once again and for that let’s make the object first.(18 seconds pause) So now an object is available for me even though I am making this object randomly to make you all understand easily. So, I make this into the block so that I enter “B” and then once again enter. Then I will rename the object ‘ BLOCK 5’, select the pick point, then specify the object, and after specifying the object, I will choose any options from the three of them- either Retain or Convert into Block or Delete. Whatever you want to choose you can.
13:50
But for now, I will choose to Convert into Block and then select the option Allow Exploding and click Okay. So, if I choose Block 5 from the insert option and try to explode so first I will select the object and then search for “E” “X” – Explode and then enter so now you can see that the object is exploded which also means that it is now unblocked. So, like this, I have the options available inside the Block option. And as per the Annotative, we will talk about it later on when we will learn something about it. So, we will skip Annotative for now but except for that we have seen and tried out the options available other than Annotative. Okay? And for Insert also, I have these options available about which Block I want to choose and also what type of scaling I want to give or I can also give the angle. Then if my block is in inches and I want it to be in decimal like in meter or kilometer or mm or centimeter so that I can change it from here. So, I can also change the scaling factor, and then the diagram will be automatically available in the form we need. Okay? ( 8 seconds pause)
So, one more thing we will discuss is the Limit set. In the previous starting videos, we learned about the Limit Set and we learned there that before starting any drawings if I limit it then the window or the working space available for me will be available for me as per it. For example, if I take the Line command and draw a line over here or see its dimensions will be exactly 10.7170, that is around 11. If I make the line from here then for upwards then for that line is for 50. So, I will do 50 and then enter. So now that line is away from the working space. This means that the space we have for working space has a certain limitation and we can also set that limitation. So, for that, we need to know the boundaries of the drawing. This means that if we have a layout that has a specific dimension, this is layout only and exactly given under the X and Y coordinates, whatever the working space is there, the drawing will be made inside of it. So, for that, I can set the limit. So, the line I have here needs to be 50 meter, so the working space I need for it should be more than 50. Okay? So, suppose I need to make a rectangle for exactly 50 by 50 so the working space should be more than 50 by 50. So, let’s see it once again. So, we start from here and we need 50 so 50 commas 50 and then enter. Now you can see that the rectangle which is now a square is 50 by 50 and is outside of the working space, which means that the working space I needed was more than 50. So, for that, I can set the limit by “L” “I” “M” “I” “T” and then enter. So the first point I need to put is that 0 comma 0 and enter. Now the upper point I need to enter is that 60 comma 60 and then enter. So when I clicked the enter, the working space was now available. But here the drawing is still not available. So, for that, I will go for “Z” enter which means Zoom enter and “A” enter, and now you can see that the space we wanted or created is here. So, if I go here then you can see that it is almost 60. Okay? So, this space is now available for us. And like this, I can set the Limit. For example, I don’t want to set the limit set with coordinates and I have a specific corner so if I go for limit and from here to there which means that from the first corner to the second corner will be selected so now, I will use the line command and you can see that (6 seconds pause) the line command can be used anywhere but here, under the limit set, you can see that I have two options available, where the first one is “ON” and the second one “OFF”.
19:55
So, if I choose the “ON” option and try to give a line command, it will not be given. Even if I choose to draw a circle then it will also not be drawn but If I try to draw it here then it will work, if I choose to draw the line here then it will work. But if I try to draw it outside then it's not working, but it is working inside it. Why is it happening? Because we have set a limit that whatever work needs to be done should be done inside these two corners only. So whatever changes or modifications I do, will be only available inside these two corners only. Okay? So, once again I will go for Limit and then I will click the option “OFF” when I click “OFF” then you can see that whatever I want to draw can be drawn outside the limit set. The circle can also be made. So, like this, I can set the Limit. This means that whatever requirements I want like the coordinates I want to work where I don’t need the drawings to be made outside of it so we can set the Limit for that plus with the Limit set, we also need to click on “ON”. And if I want to work outside of the Limit then I need to click on the “OFF” option. So, for Limit, you just need to type LIMIT and enter. Okay? …
Another thing we will learn from here about Toggle Keys. In the starting previous videos, we learned about these keys which are available on the bottom of the right-hand side. So, if I want to make an option available so for that I have a button available upon which it is written customization. This means that this option will help me to make customization So if some options are not available, suppose I need to make a drawing out of anything and I need some coordinates, for that, I can use the option “ON “and “OFF” and you can see from here the coordinates. So whatever option I need will be available. So, we also talked about the lineweight and transparency, and it will be available from here also. We use Transparency when we work with layers because if we set transparency in layers transparency will only be applied when we will avail the option of transparency. So, we have also seen the lineweight in the previous videos which means if we can make a line correct or make its weight more then it will be available only then when we will make the option of lineweight available or on. Then we have a selection cycle. The 3d object option is available, UCS is also available. So whatever options I need to customize according to me or if I need the units then I can also take that so now I have all these options available. So, whatever your requirement is, you just need to select that or you want to select less than just deselect it and just remove it and it will automatically be removed. So, suppose I don’t need the options grid so I will just deselect it from here and it will be removed, and if I want it again I will just select it once again. So, these were the Toggle Keys.
So in today’s video, we learned about Block Edit, Limit setting, and some toggle keys options.
So, in the next video, we will learn about Print and Plot which means that whatever drawing I need to print and then make a pdf of it or make its plotting so how we will do it. So I hope whatever we learned today was understandable and you all will practice it and If you have any queries or comments, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
Thank You.
