TOPIC: Project Section
Hello Friends.
Welcome to Learn Vern.
This side is (name) and I welcome you all to today’s video. So, in the last video, we learned about how to prepare the 2BHK elevation plan. Today we will learn about 2BHK. It will be the same plan or same elevation only but to work with a section, we will learn how to make a section. So, let’s start today’s video.
So, first, we will see which part we have to make the elevation of. So, for making elevation we will go to plan, and in the plan, you can see that a path is made here, from “A to A” that is the section we will take from this direction to this direction, that parts that are covered in that like wall, windows, doors, staircases, we need to make a section of all these parts. So, first of all, we will know what is Section. For example, if we see a building from the top then it is a plan, if we see a building from its front then it is an elevation, but if we cut particular building or anything from the given direction or from the center of and have a loon on it, so whatever view we see is the section part. So we need to make that section part, for that we have been given this path in which, what are the things covered? that are,
- window “W1”
- the staircase is also covered here,
- then this passage, which will exactly be seen as a plain surface.
- Then this door and
- at last this wall and window
- also a balcony on this side.
So, these are the things we need to show over there, in that section. So, how can we prepare a section? Let's see that? So, you can see that we need to draw this portion as a section. So, first, we will select this portion¸ and then copy this just beside this, over here, then turn the ortho “On”, okay?...
So, what we will do right now is, we will see how to stretch the first and last line as a ray in the line that we are given here.
So, we will use it once again. “The Ray Command” like this. We will take one more time a ray command towards the top. Then we need to take from here, this line, which is a staircase line, we can take this line here as well. ok?
3:18
Then “R A Y” + “Enter” or we can do another thing, that is, we have picked this line, then we will copy this from here. (15 seconds pause) Now everything is copied and then we will copy this form here, and then at the upwards, we will place it. Then from here, we will take its ray line. (6seconds pause)
one more time and one more time. (43 seconds pause, drawing)
So, here the lines have been made exactly. So, now what we will do is that we have a dimension available over here but first we will remove these lines over here. (15 seconds pause) So, we will delete the extra lines we took. Then what we can do is we can take this line as a reference and draw this over here like this. Okay? Then we can also extend this line. So, for extend we can do “E X” and then extend till you want and what is the next line we want to extend. this line.
6:06
Then we can extend this line for doors and windows and then this line and also this line. ( 9 seconds pause) Okay? So, here you can see how the section is made and is ready like this : We have taken the ray points. Let’s extend once again; we will extend the upper portion and then “Enter” we need to extend this line till here. Then we will trim the above portions and we will also trim the down portions that are we will delete all extra lines or portions.( 6 seconds pause) Okay? So, first, we will make here a staircase so, for making a staircase, we will see how many steps we kept. “1, 2, 3, 4” that is how many risers are there “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” so, with five risers, the detailing we have been given (7 seconds pause) is that “8 and 1, 2 (eight and one-two)” so, like this we need to calculate that what will be the total height. So, if we go for 8 then “8 x 5” that is “40” and one by two (½) that and also 5 times “1.5” inches, so, that will be “2.5” Okay? So, what is the inch now? 42.5 inches (Forty-two point five inches). So, first, what will we do is(7 seconds pause) that we will take an offset from here, “O” + “Enter” or we can draw a line over here so that the whole line cannot be offset. So, we will take offset “O” + “Enter”, “42.5 (Forty-two point five), and then enter from here to here, something like this. Okay? Then what we have to do is that we need to take offset from here and that offset will be the same of riser or we can connect the thread also. Okay? So, here we will make a thread but first let’s make a riser, “8”,(7 seconds pause) “L” + “Enter”, towards upward “8.5”, and then enter.
9:16
Then here, (6 seconds gap) “10” Okay? So, this is ready. And we can copy this also. So, for multiple copies “M” + “Enter” and then copy this from here and go here and here and here and here… and we can draw something like this. We will copy it one more time, (6 seconds gap) “M” + “Enter”(9 seconds gap) and here you can see that it is exactly touched. Then what we have to do is we will delete this portion because we have this extra portion available to us. We will trim one more time and we will also delete this portion, like this. (9 seconds pause) Okay? And we will delete these lines also from here. (16 seconds pause)Firstly we will make a line here, from here to here and then we will trim this and we will also delete this extra portion.(10 seconds pause) So, here you can use “8.5” as an offset… Then downwards, we will enter “L” + “Enter” and here it is done. Then we can provide hatching inside it. (15 seconds pause) We will extend this a little bit … and also provide hatching inside it. Okay? So, this has been made like this. Now what we have to do is that we have made this staircase, then we need to make this door, and for the door, we will take a ray.
12:46
“R A Y” + “Enter” from upwards and then we will take another ray from here to upwards….ok? We need to take a window over here also, so, we will take it, and then we will take another ray from here to upwards. Okay? Then here also, (7 seconds gap) we will take one more here (6 seconds pause) So, now what we will do is that we will delete all the extra portions,(8 seconds gap) so, our extra portions are deleted now (7 seconds pause) So, as much we delete, we will get an idea about what are the things remaining and what things are made. ok? (37 seconds gap) Then what we have to do is that the rays you are seeing here, are exactly the rays of doors, so, here we will “L” + “Enter” and make a line, like this (5 seconds gap) And the portion over here, we will trim it.
15:09
(24 seconds gap) Okay? Then here we will make a door. So, for the door we will go to offset first so, “O” + “Enter” and take “1” as an offset (48 seconds gap) So, whatever the left portions are, you just need to delete them because at last, you won’t be able to find which you made extra over there. Okay? So, when your work is finished there, you then delete the things which are extra simultaneously. (56 seconds gap) Now let’s extend this and then enter. (9 seconds pause) Now what we will do is, put 2 as an offset. (14 seconds gap) And here, (7 seconds gap) we will hatch the door but in the hatch also we will do gradient and we can choose the color in the gradient. Okay?... So, the gradient is made over here. Then here we will provide a window and the height of the window can be taken from here.
19:03
So, this is the reference. (15 seconds pause) So, here we can delete this portion and from here also we can delete the line we made. Then we have to make a line from this center to this center and then once again hatch and it is done. Then we need to make one more window, and that window will be a little bit up..like this and the height we kept for that window is 4 feet or we can keep 5 feet also. So, “O” + “Enter”, 5 feet enter, from here to below. Okay. Then we will make a line from this center to this center and we will also hatch this. Okay. So, for the slab, first, we will delete the extra lines, then we will provide hatching for the slab. (8 seconds gap) So, for the slab, we will choose this hatch and then okay. Okay? Then another thing we need to provide is.. you can see that the drawing is actually deleted, (10 seconds gap) so, we will make that right now. (6 seconds gap) Okay?
21:14
Then what we have to do is that we need to copy this portion over here and then we will pick it, copy it from the corner, (5 seconds) and then exactly place it here, like this, and then we will trim the extra portions. (14 seconds) Okay? Now what we have to do is that we need to provide another door and above this also. (11 seconds) We can also join this. (20 seconds) We will use join once more. (32 seconds) Okay? Now what we have to do is that we need to provide hatching over here, so, we will see what are the things remaining here, we need to provide hatching to the wall and provide a slab.
23:22
Okay. So, here we will take 6 inches exactly for an offset, on the lower side, and then we will trim it. Okay? And then we will provide their hatching and then enter. Okay? And then we will hatch once again but this time the pattern will be of brick. (9 seconds) So, according to your requirement, you can select it here. (19 seconds pause) So, wherever you see the wall portion, then just provide a hatch to it and then enter and after that select it and change its scaling from here, either 10 or 20. Okay? So, now you can see that we have provided it here. Now what you have to do is that the section we have cut, you need to draw that. So, you can see that we need to provide hatching here and we need to give this portion. So, for that, we will first make a line from here to below about 9 inches and then from outside 9 inches, then from below 9 inches, then from outside 18 and one more 9 inches, towards up 9 inch, inside 9 inches and then towards up. So, like this, we will copy this and place it here. We need to provide hatching one more time, and we will provide hatching inside this. And here we can do another thing that is “Match properties” so, this our source and this is the destination point. So, one more time we will use hatching and with that, we will also change its pattern and we will provide hatching over here like this and its scaling can be 40, it’s way too big, 20, no this cannot be of 20, 10 or 5. Okay?
26:51
And then enter. And here our drawing is prepared and there is one more thing to provide here, so, we will provide that…. So, we have selected it and it is copied, and from here it is moved, and here we have placed it…. Okay? (9 seconds)So, it is placed here and one more time we will use hatching and this time we will use this hatching, and then we use “Match properties” with this. (8 seconds ) So, here we have provided everything and now we are going to rename it and for rename, you don’t have to do anything. Copy this and here I have placed it and then double click on it and you can write “Section A-A” (17 seconds, typing) and now what we have to do is that we have made a plan, an elevation, and a section, there is one more thing that is the terrace plan. So, for the terrace plan, we need to, but first, we need to delete the internal parts of it, so that not a single thing will come there and only your walls should be seen. (30 seconds) Just select all of this and then delete it. (5 seconds) Whatever things are here, you just need to select it and then delete it. (8 seconds)ok?... Now what we have to do is that you need to copy these walls from here to here. Okay? And move it a little bit.(10 seconds) Okay? We have done this because of the stairs . We need to show the staircase over here. Okay?
30:26
(4 seconds) So, let’s rename it as “First Floor Plan” or..(5 seconds), but first we need to make it a little bigger, the size. (5seconds) ok ? (9 seconds) So, we can make it and then move it.(18 seconds) Okay? Now what we have to do is that we need to make an extension of this line. So, first “EX” + “Enter” and then extend this line and then once again use the extension and extend this line now and we have to join these both lines so for that we will join “J” + “Enter”. So, we will select it, and here it is joined. Okay? So, the portion over here but first we will delete these.
32:00
(12 seconds) We can use an extension here. (15 seconds gap) We can use offset here and then once again we will delete the extra portion over here. (7seconds) Okay? And then we will move it a little bit towards up, we will turn off F8, and here we can write once again “Terrace Plan” (5 seconds, typing) So, once again we will join this line with this line and extend this line till here. Okay? Then we will use the extension once again from here till here and use it once again over here till here. Okay? So, this is done. And generally, if you see a terraced plan, the below terrace line, you will see it as a dotted line. So, we will keep it like this only. Okay? So, the whole plan is ready, that is we inserted everything here. Whatever we needed to rename, we have inserted it. Now the last thing that is left is that we need it printed out or we have to save it as a PDF. Okay?
34:14
So, you can see these two options here, one is the layout, okay and another one is layout 2. This option is automatically customized or prepared by AutoCAD. If you want to prepare a layout, then you need to go to the new layout, and afterward, … you will go to the template. After going to the template, you can see the AutoCAD template, these are all templates, “imfg” or “iarch” , these are all templates that are available to you. So, you need to select any one of the templates and then open it, and okay. And when you go to that template then the plan will look like this. So, you can keep this according to yourself or if you want to prepare a whole layout then you can also do that.
35:26
If you want to insert your viewport, then go to layout, select and make the rectangular viewport, and from here to here your viewport has been selected. Okay? And if you want to do some changes then you can do that and if you want to rename it then you can also do that. Okay? Then if you want to insert some text according to your choice then you can also do that by going home and then using “MT” and whatever things you need to insert, you can do that. Okay? “Learnvern” (7 seconds, typing) and we have inserted it and moved it a little bit, like this…. Okay? Then whatever information you want to give you can like project name, revision, date, anybody’s signature or if approval is required then you can also give that over here. Sheet rename, project renames, date, the scale you have used, you can give these all things. Okay? So, when your layout is prepared here, what you have to do is that you need to go to plotting directly or you can select size or the rename that you have inserted from the layout and then go to plot and select “Continue to single sheet” and then you need to select “AutoCAD PDF” Okay? And this will prepare your document. you can have a look at the preview. And this will be your print and there you can write “Project completed” (7 seconds, typing) and you can save the file name. so, you can see that all these things are available over here. Okay?
37:48
So, whatever drawing is or whatever you have inserted, or whatever information you have given, those all are available in this sheet. “A4, A3, A2 or A0” in whatever size you need it, you can do it in layout. Okay? (30 seconds)
There is one more thing that's if you make a drawing in layers and save it as a PDF, you can see that in PDF, you get an option of layers when you select it, you can see that whatever layer you have worked with it is showing here. Okay? Like “Doors and windows”, “Elevation”, “Hatch”, “Staircase”, “Text”, “Title Block”, “ViewPort” and “Wall”. So, these all layers are available. And you can see that if I want to hide it then it can also happen. If I tried to hide the text then all of the text would be gone. Then doors and windows, walls. So, you can see that these are the advantages whenever you make a drawing with a layout.
So, in today’s video, we learned that if we want to make a section of any plan or any elevation, how to make a section of it. That means there we need to copy a plan, then with that we need to take reference points or lines of its different layers and for that, we use the ray command. After that whatever the extra portions are, we just need to trim them so that whatever the object we need, we will keep making those in a shape.
So, I hope whatever we learned today was understandable and you all will practice it. If you have any queries or comments, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
Thank You.
