Because he or she is the first person to arrive at the crime site for initial inquiry, a first responder plays a crucial part in the computer forensics process. After gathering all of the evidence from the crime site, the investigation phase begins.
His or her first responsibility is always the protection of persons on the scene, but the responder must also be cognizant of the significance of preserving any evidence that may be pertinent to the crime.
Patrol officers must be able to identify infractions of the law, bring criminals to justice, gather and preserve evidence, and aid in the prosecution of offenders because they are the "First Responders."
The first responder – the officer who arrives on the scene immediately — is responsible for protecting the public and the crime scene to the best of their ability, as well as controlling the alterations made to the crime scene. The officer must secure the situation once it has been determined to be safe.
They're someone whose job it is to attend to an accident or emergency as soon as possible (first). First responders include emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, firefighters, and police officers.
