What have we learnt in the last topic? In the last topic, we learnt about the work scope of CorelDraw, color types of CorelDraw, color theory. We learnt and understood about color palette and color formulas.
Now, as we discussed in the last topic. We will directly focus on practical and learn about it.
How CorelDraw works and what are its tools and interface. OK!
Whenever you open the screen of CorelDraw, we now have the CorelDraw 2019 version. This is a basic interface of CorelDraw. And with CTRL + N we can open new documents.
You guys kindly start learning shortcut key slowly, as I will also mention on screen. Whenever you need, you can apply by seeing this.
CTRL + N, you will find a popup to create a new document. Otherwise, you can open a new document from here as well. Then you can go to file and click on new. These are three types to open a new document. But I will always prefer to go with a shortcut key so you can work speedily and effectively.
You don’t need to take a long turn, because the industry always needs fast work, so you can deliver their project or design in a speedy manner. Hence, we always prefer to use shortcut keys. So you should always focus on shortcut keys.
CTRL + N, We have to give a name here to whichever design we are going to make, we should give a name according to our client or our design. Here is a preset, which we don’t need to touch at all now.
Number of pages, here we have to work pages wise. We work according to pages.
Primary colors, In the last topic, we learnt about CMYK and RGB. If we have a creation related to print media, then we will select CMYK and if we have to create for digital screen or social media then we will click on RGB. OK!
Dimensions, you must have heard about Landscape and portrait. It is a very basic thing. Here, many preset, and page sizes are given so we can directly select any size and get it directly. Now, we will select A4.
Width and height and beside that units are given, where inch, millimeters, picas points, didotes, feet, yard, miles, Centimeters, meters, kilometers all forms of units are mentioned hereby. In whichever size you want to create page or any design, like client prescribed size in inches then we have to select inches here and if in millimeter then we will select millimeters. Now, we select in inches.
This is also the size of A4.
Orientation, If you want it in portrait or you can keep it in landscape as well.
Resolution, we will keep resolution at 300 dpi. 300 Dpi is the best resolution.
We don’t need to touch this profile because it’s by default.
The moment you click ok, you will see an A4 size page on screen.
You will find this kind of interface, wherever the page is. OK!
If we have done the changes outside, considering different presets. If we want to make the same changes from here, then that is also available. We don’t need to take a new document again. A4, A3, A5, for letter head legal, tabloid etc. so all these things are available here only.
If We want to make changes from here, then the direct page will change.
For height and width, if we want to consider it according to our wish then we can do that. Like if we want to make a page for social media and Instagram, then we will take 10 by 10 and units in inches. This is done.
Then after, we can change units from here.
This nudge, we will learn later on.
This is our toolbar. We will learn this whole toolbar when we start learning practical. One by one we will understand everything.
TIME – 5 Minutes
This is a color palette.
Now, let’s learn simple and basic, which will help us in CorelDraw. OK!
Anyhow you cannot fill color without taking any shape. It will directly ask you, where do you want to put colors?
So, if I selected 10 by 10 inches here and I want the same size shape. Then there is a rectangle tool and I will double click on that and we will get the shape by itself only.
If we want to fit to screen anything, like I zoomed it out. OK!. And I want the same thing in the same place to fit on the screen, then I will press F4. F4 only, this is our shortcut keys for fit to screen.
All these shortcut keys, I will mention in the next lecture. You can take a screenshot of that or you can note it down.
Whichever color or shape, I selected and then after I clicked on any color then the same color will be applied here. It is very simple. OK!
Whichever color I use, the down palette will be created accordingly. It will assure that the design is created by these colors only.
Ok! All the shades I am using here, that all will be mentioned in down. OK! This was about the color.
We have to click left on the mouse for colors.
Now, we will learn about outlines. Here is the outline.
Scrolling is used for zoom. scroll up and scroll down. Scroll up for zoom and scroll down for zoomed out.
I clicked here and I want to delete this outline or otherwise fill color or change the color of outline.
First let’s get to know how to change the color of the outline.
On any color, if I click right on the mouse. OK! Then it will create an outline of the same color. Like this! As you can see, on whichever color I am right clicking, the outline changes accordingly.
But if I want to remove the outline. You can see cross or slash (/) here and I will right click on that then outline will be removed and if I click on left then color will also be removed. Only shape will remain without color and outline.
Wherever I click right, the same outline will come and if I click on the left color the same will appear again. OK! DONE!
We learned about color. And we will get any shape by double clicking and we can change the color of that like this only. Wherever I click on any color, the same will apply here.
After that comes ,how to draw any shape in proportion. Any shape we draw like this without touching a keyboard then we cannot do it properly in any proportion and when we click on CTRL it makes a proper rectangle. Done!
Same, if we take a circle, then press CTRL and we will get a proper circle by that.
After that come polygons. In polygons, the same procedure will be followed. Press CTRL and it will take it properly. You can decide the side or corner of the polygon from here. We can take 4, 5 and 6. OK!
And we want to add any color in this, then normally we can fill color like this.
This was about Basic Interface. OK!
Text Tool! Click on letter A and then after we can write any text.
If any shape, we want to zoom in from every angle, then we can do that after pressing SHIFT. It will be zoomed in. Color will be changed in the same manner as we did in shape and the same will be applied in text as well. Done!
Time – 10.11 Minute
Here , We learnt about, what is the interface of CorelDraw? And also learnt fit to screen shortcut and different kinds of sizes and how we can change it in units. About nudge, we will learn later on. OK!
These many things we learnt.
Then after, our next topic will be Alignment, Distribution and Path finder.
Alignment means how to proper align any things from top align, center align and left align.
In distribution, we will learn how to arrange many shapes in line horizontally or vertically and how to fix space in between them.
And Pathfinder, how to cut any shape and customize that according to our wish.
So in the next topic we will learn about all these things.
If you have any query or comment, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
CorelDraw is a user-friendly programme that is simple to learn and use by anyone. Illustrator, on the other hand, is well-known as a more advanced version of the software that is not as simple to master.
Coreldraw is a vector-based design programme for making logos, flexes, brochures, invitation cards, and other vector-based designs.
Professional graphic designers rely heavily on Adobe Illustrator. In this example, CorelDRAW takes the win because it only has one tool compared to four in Illustrator. Adobe Illustrator, on the other hand, is a better alternative for vector drawings and illustrations. Shapes, fonts, and colours can be used to create a variety of effects.
You can learn more about the interface by clicking on the "Help" button in the top right corner of the interface. You will be able to see a small tutorial that will teach you how to use this tool.
CorelDRAW provides all the tools needed to create high quality illustrations and designs. A few of its features include:
Text and font creation
