Bi Fold Brochure Design CorelDRAW Part 5

Hello Friends, welcome to Learnvern.

Let's start today’s lecture.

Now comes a three panel brochure which is called Tri-fold. Ok.

Bi fold is done. Now we will learn Tri-fold.

It is also called a three panel brochure.

Which looks like this. You might have seen it many times.

First we have learned about Bi fold. Where is Bi-fold seen? In restaurants, cafe’s.

You might have seen tri folds in restaurants only most often because mostly these tri folds are seen in cafe’s only or a real estate company which shows maps, types of policies, terms & conditions is shown on the homepage for which tri folds are used.

Same things are given for the purpose of advertisements of tri folds.

Tri folds are available in different materials, sizes.

But to design this we have to take care because this also has some rules, because where are you designing it, which page, matters a lot while designing it.

Secondly , whenever you design a trifold you have to decide the theme like you have done in bi fold.

Here, there are three pages.

There is creasing here which you can see which is applied after printing, because firstly it is only a page creasing is done at last.

So you have to design it so that it should be printed very well and then we can do creasing, so that the pages do not get mixed up.

For example, the first page goes to the last. So you have to be very knowledgeable while designing the trifold.

See how this is made. This is made up of a full theme.

In green and dark grey color.

This is its first page, this is its last page okay and this is its fifth page.

This size of trifold brochure is also available.

Sometimes we get in portrait and square shape.

Here also you can see how nicely only one theme is designed using only 3 colors.

Now we will see how the tri fold is designed.

Tri fold has always been folded like this.

Like this is a page. Ok.

This is a page of 5th number, like 4 numbers are written and folded here the way that it goes inside and becomes the 1st page.

This might have gone above your head.So lets learn it in depth.

Always the first page comes on the back side ok.

Second and third. And third to one the backside of the portion the outdoor is first page, second page & third page.

You will understand more here.

This is the whole back side.

We should directly see the practical so that you can understand it fast and easily.

We normally make it in this only. First we will divide it into two types.

For making two parts we will do plus(+) like which we make the timetable.

Here, divided by 2, we will have to open the lock otherwise it will divide it proportionally by 2.

This is done.

Then we will divide these in 3 parts.

Divided by 3.ok.

3 parts are done. Again 3 parts are done.

The part which is on the upper side is the back side.

Pause

Means when we will flip it, means when we will open it fully and flip it, then it will become the back side.

And when you open it fully, for reading, the part which is inside, inner side is the front side.

 We can tell it is the front side as well as the inner side.

Front inner side. Ok.

This becomes back outside and this becomes the front inner side. Ok.

Now we will see the backside of the back outside, in which this is the first page because this will fold the inner side. Ok. and the fifth will also fold in the inner side. Ok.

So this will be the first page.

Then, which one will be the second page?

Like this one page 1 will fold then this will be page 2. Ok.

Now in the middle but obvious it will be third & fourth. Ok this is fourth.

Now this is the back side. The last one will be six and the one left okay is the rest of that all number which will be fifth. Ok.

I hope you might have understood it properly.

First, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth.

Or you can do it in a practical way, take a paper, fold the paper very nicely in trifold.

You need to see very carefully, which page comes where and then you write the numbers on the parts by pencil.

Do it on a rough paper, so that you will get a very clear practical idea, like how you do the folding.

Because folding matters a lot.

Suppose if we design it nicely and fold it and the pages get ups & downs then the whole printing will go in waste because if the first page goes to last, second goes to third, then this will not matter.

No doubt, how nicely you have designed it, it will never be approved.

It won't look appealing.

We will start making tri-folds.

For that tri-fold’s standard size we will search that like always.

Ok.

Mostly here it is made of a 3rd part of A4 size.

So we will take the A4 size page.

This is an A4 size page.

I have switched it to landscape mode.

Ok.

Then I took a box.

I will only do the 3rd part in this.

Ok.

This will be enough to make outside and inside.

Ok.

So first we will do three parts of this.

Divided by 3

And it will be divided into 3 parts.

Something like this.

Now I have flipped it to the upside so that now this is an outside and this is an inside.

Ok.

For this also 3 parts are done,

Now we will start designing this.

Before that we will do numbering so that we won't face any difficulties and wont make any mistakes.

Ok.

Once again we will see the first page will be this.

Second, this.

Third, this.

Fourth.

Five.

And six.

Ok.

We have allocated six pages.

Ok.

Now we will start designing.

First will be this first page.

We will start designing this first page.

Which content will we take?

As of now we will take this content only as an example.

We will try to decrease its size and try to design this in that first page.

Here I ungrouped this.

Majorly our background will be the same in all the parts.

I have changed it to landscape.

Ok.

No one will be able to understand this as this is very blur and I have decreased the transparency.

So first thing i will group three of them, 5, 6 and 1.

I will align this.

And will make it big.

This much.

Ok.

Now what will I do?

First I will ungroup this.

In all of the parts turn by turn I will powerclip this.

So that it looks similar.

Here I have put this. Something like this.

Right click- powerclip.

And here add some different parts of it.

So it looks like these three parts are the same and made with one theme only.

For that what will I do?

I will make a copy.

Then right click - powerclip.

On the first page.

I will copy this again.

Then right click.

I will keep it there only.

I will not move it even a little bit.

And at last only one is left so you don’t have to copy it.

Just this and this.

You can see that in all the three there is an individual powerclip we have done.

But three of them look similar.

Ok.

I have added it here by clicking plus and copy.

So our first page, 5th page and 6th page’s background is ready.

Now we will see our first page.

Here comes our logo.

We will do the same design on that theme.

You have seen now how brochures and all are designed.

Here you just have to see how we manage pages and after that we will see how we prepare a print file in any print media world.

Ok.

We will make it a little small.

We don’t need this much here.

And this person as well.

After doing this, powerclip.

First we will have to do this else it will create a problem.

Ok.

Powerclip is done.

Now we have to just put the typography here as it is.

You just have to take care about the sizes.

Because you can design easily but for sizes you have to take care a lot that how much should be the font size? What is the size of the element you have taken?

You will get that idea gradually when you will give it to the printing.

You will get to know what is the requirement of clients and where you are making mistakes.

See this much things are set here.

Ok. Our first page is ready.

We can keep this here.

Ok so our first page is ready.

We can add any content in the second page.

We will not take our normal background on the second page.

We will have a completely different background.

There will be something whitish like this.

This is our second page.

We have to set this image.

I will CTRL+X this. Cut and outside of this powerclip I will paste it.

We will delete the second number as of now.

C & T will be top aligned.

And right click and powerclip.

The powerclip is done.

Now we can use this portion where we have taken a patch.

We can use this as we used in the last brochure.

According to the same theme.

It is now centralised and top aligned.

Now again right click and then power clip.

Now it is time for the content.

We have this in our content. I will group this with CTRL+G.

And left align.

Now our spacing width is very low and the height is more.

We will have to make this big.

But as of now we will take this to the side.

We will adjust this as this is touching the outline.

So this little bit below and like this.

We will overlap this in the photo.

We will make the textbox a little bit long.

Something like this.

We will adjust it according to our requirements.

We will take the font size as 12.

It’s enough.

As it is a brochure whenever someone will read it he will take it on hand and then read it so this much fonts are enough.

For him reading nicely. Ok.

You don’t need to be bigger than this.

Then comes this.

So our second page is also ready.

Something like this.

We will keep the icon size equal to the textbook size and we will lock it and keep it there.

Ok.

This is done.

Now the third page.

We will use this portion on the third page.

We will add something a little bit similar on the third page and fourth page.

We will put two points here and two points here so that our content also fills up and we will also learn to adjust on the Pages.

Ok.

First thing is we will CTRL + C this patch.

And outside CTRL + V.

Means now it is outside.

Now I will power clip this in this patch.

So now both patches are similar.

This is what I wanted.

Then, “Why edutech”

This portion will be here and its size is 12 so it will be 12 here as well.

One minute.

We will keep it to 14 as our subtitle size is 12 so it should be 14 for this.

This is done.

Now we will take these two parts here.

And its size will also be 12.

We will make its content a little bit smaller like this.

And its size will be 12.

And it's as well.

We will decrease its size as well.

Now we will try to adjust this.

As we only have two pages and the content is of four points which are still left so how we will adjust this we will see that.

First we will stretch it like this so that will be done.

Then we have one more thing, this photo so how will we adjust that here.

So now you have to take care always of how many things we have and how we can adjust them and how we can design them nicely.

as much as you practise this you will get more idea about it, but how should we design it?

There are two things here for adjusting this.

so this photo which we used last in the brochure we can adjust it here and add content as well.

but then this will look empty.

we haven’t added anything on the fourth page.

we will do something which will combine the third and the fourth page and keep it together.

So what can we do so we will adjust “why edutech” with this.

We will make this content smaller like this.

And we will try to adjust this photo like this here.

In the centre.

I know that there will be creasing here but it won’t look bad because there are many brochures or menu cards in which there are photos so it Doesn’t look bad, it looks perfectly fine.

It is normal.

This is now done.

Just because this doesn’t look odd, I will take this batch and then frame and remove frames.

We will centralise the batch as we did it before.

because we don’t have its legs so because of that we will try to hide it.

so first +, means I have copied this.

 then right click this page inside this and copy and then paste it on the outside on the other.

Both portions are different.

We will do the same for this person.

First we will add this to the 2nd number and then we will go to the power clip for the second number.

we will copy this.

we will paste it outside and we will put the second one in this.

half part is here and half but is here.

Okay, this is now perfectly set. We will try to make it look good.

at last the size of the below textbook should be of this size only.

something like this, these both things are set now. Now it is the turn of these two points.

one point will be above the laptop and the other point will be below the laptop.

Here it will be 12.

And here also 12.

The text box size should be the same here as well. You will have to manage the sizes of fonts and patches very carefully.

You will have to maintain its colours and fonts.

There shouldn’t be anything which is uneven.

This is done.

The size is also 12.

And this also 12.

Now we can add any colour at the back and if you don’t want to add that is also okay.

Otherwise we can add any office photo behind this.

Normally we will take any office background.

Copy.

And power clip.

It’s opacity will be very low.

We will blur this.

I will copy this and paste it to the next page and in that SHIFT + PAGEDOWN.

So that it will go behind the person as you can see now that both backgrounds are matching.

OK.

This many things are done.

Now second thing we can use this background as well if you want.OK.

See this patch which is looking something weird because its legs are not there we can add here below this perfectly so that it hides it.

We will bottom align this here.

We will take this outside as we don’t need it inside.

Ok.

Something like this: our second, third and 4th pages are ready.

Now we will come to the 5th page.

What we can add on the fifth page.

We can add how we work?

we will add a contact number on the sixth page.

We will add “how we work” here.

As of now we can add any dummy content here when the client will give us the content then we will add here accordingly.

We will fulfill it here.

Like this. Ok.

After that comes our last page where our contact details are.

We can add many things in contact details like contact number, address, email address and website.

Whatever client provides us we will add all of that here.

we have full freedom that how we designed it.

Many things can come, but we will add any content here as of now.

We have already seen the rules and regulations of designing.

How do we follow the rules?

How do we make any design?

you have already seen all of that.

in trifold you had to see how you manage the pages, 1st page, 2nd page 3rd page 4th page.

like this it will be designed.

Now we will talk about print.

If you want to send a file for printing and then how can you do that?

First thing, like you designed this. Ok.

Now we will learn step by step how to send a file for printing.

Now the design is finalized, you have sent the file as PDF or JPG.

Client had said okay no please send me prints.

Now what you have to do before sending for print.

Save as this file.

Then print CC.

Means convert to curve.

Ok then enter.

You just have to save as once.

Make a copy of this.

Ok.

You have made a copy of this.

After that, you have to check all your fonts and then you have to check that all the colours you have added are the same or not.

for that you have to ungroup this all.

Some colours are like that and some are not.

What do you have to do?

you will not do all that again.

you have to go in edit then find and replace in that there will be option of colour model or palette in that you have to select specific colour model.

you will have to replace this with any specific colour model.

here it will be RGB.

This is RGB.

We will replace it with CMYK.

For replacing that you have to click and replace all.

it is not now nothing is left as of now.

all of that is done.

Now you will see that all of the colours are CMYK.

you’ll have to do gradient personally , no shortcut can be used for this.

you will have to do for each one of them.

Whenever you will use gradient, shortcut will not apply on that.

okay.

See this all is now converted.

Now we will talk about fonts.

Fonts should always be done in convert to curve.

You have to give it after converting because whenever you will give file for print it is not important that the printer will have your fonts.

Because we have taken all the fonts from the internet and website.

it is not important that he will have the same fonts, if you want you can give them fonts as well mail it to them.

but mostly we break the fonts and give it to them.

so for all the fonts you have to click on CTRL+Q which will convert them.

Now you can see these fonts are not editable.

even if you want, you cannot write on this.

okay.

These are not editable now.

they are all now converted.

like this you have to ungroup all of them and then convert to a curve.

you have to convert in CMYK then only you will give it for print. 

In a tri fold also like this you have to convert to curve all of that and convert it into CMYK after that you have to send it for the print file.

before that you will not send it for print okay.

Like this you will have to send for print file so that there won’t be any problem while printing.

Because printing is done for 10,000 or 20,000.

It is never done for one or two friends.

So we have to make sure that there is no mistake and the client won't have to face any difficulties okay.

What you have to do is to create a brochure very nicely.

then you have to create a trifold just like you have made a logo or a stationary design like that only.

for that logo, that industry you have to create a brochure bifold and trifold

you have to create a print file as well.
