The bullet chart is an advanced Excel chart that you should learn if you want to improve your charting skills. When you need to demonstrate a single point target vs. achievement, this chart is ideal. According to Wikipedia, a bullet graph is a Stephen Few-developed version of a bar graph.

Bullet graphs are a type of bar graph that was created to replace dashboard gauges and metres. When comparing the performance of a major metric to one or more other measures, a bullet graph is beneficial. A single bullet graph depicting actual sales versus expected sales is shown below.

Stephen Few, a dashboard expert, created bullet charts, which have now become widely accepted as one of the best charting representations for showing success against an objective.
