Friends, in today's photoshop session we will learn about move tool.
Here Go to the file and use Open.
The shortcut for Open is Ctrl+O.
It is used to open any image.
I will open an image from here.
This image has been opened.
You will see all the images here and you can open as many images as you want.
I will go here and open another image.
I have selected two images together.
I will Open both the images.
Both the images will be open one by one here.
Now let’s get started with its features
First of all here is the file menu given, in the file menu, first option is NEW
The new shortcut is ctrl+N.
NEW !
We use new for opening a new page.
At first here,“name” is given.
in name, you can give any name for your page as per your wish.
For example, let's give the page a name
“page no.1” .
Under that, there will be an option called “document type”.
In that different types of documents are available
such as :- U.S. paper, international paper, photo, web and many other document types are given.
In U.S. paper normally, there are different sizes of papers like letter or legal.
We can see that, Under international paper the sizes like A4, A5, A6, A3 are given.
I hope you understand so far.
After that, the other option given is “photo”
photo has 2 things
- Landscapes
- Portraits
Now, let’s see what are landscapes and portraits?
. Landscapes are horizontal pages
Whereas,
Portraits are vertical pages
Vertical page contains more height and less width.
The landscape has the opposite, more width and less height.
Suppose, here we give landscape of 2*3
So here you can see if the width is 3 and height is 2 as a result paper became long.
And now if we take portrait of 2*3
Width will be 2 and height will be 3.
This is the way landscapes and portraits function.
After that, we have ‘web’,
there are some different sizes related to web this means, if we want to make any websites or any templates of websites
There are different sizes provided for us to use.
you can use any of these sizes.
It’s easy, right ?
the next option given here is mobile app design
What happens in mobile app design?
If you want to design any application of a mobile or a template of any software, in photoshop, there are several sizes available.
Among these, whatever size you want, you can choose.
Then comes, film and video
If you want to keep the design of any advertisement on a large screen, then you can choose from any of these sizes.
After that, there is “iconography”.
As we saw earlier, mobile app design
It is quite similar to that, as you can see different sizes are given like Mac icons or ios.
At last comes the art board, which again has different size options such as websites, ipod or apple.
Then let’s see what this option custom is . What happens in custom is, it helps
you can add the sizes according to your convenience. By this what I mean is, you can add any size from here.
For now let’s go ahead by taking the default size of the photoshop
From here you can type any size,
For example if i want to take 10 here and in height 15, so like this we can also type the sizes.
Here are its measurements given in pixels, inches, and centimeters.
There is also an option of resolution given.
You can see here, the resolution which has already been given is 300.
What is the use of 300 resolutions?
If you are making any design with the purpose of painting then you must use 300 resolution. Otherwise, if you have a purpose to show it on any screen or to make a webpage for a website or to design a mobile application, the resolution should be 72.
So basically, resolution depends on the purpose of design.
It's a raster based software, so normally here RGB is used, RGB signifies red green and blue
If you intend to use it for printing, then CMYK is used, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Like this other color modes are also available.
Normally we use RGB.
Under this, background content is given, where you should keep background content only white.
if you wish to change any other background content, there is an option of background color
From the background color option, you can add a background of any color.
For example, here I am putting red so the background will be changed into a red color.
If you want to select the option of transparent, transparent means you do not need any background, that is zero background, the background will be removed and It will be transparent.
Normally we use white color
After doing all this, when I click ok, my page will be opened here.
Now there is an option in file of “open recent”
What happens with “open recent”?
In open recent we can see the list of files which were opened recently
so you don’t need to go to the path in open, you can just directly open it from here
Selecting “close all” in files will close all files that were open
In “close” only one file will be closed which is already in use.
But in close all, all files which are open will be closed.
Here to save, the option given is “save”
In that, you can save it in PSD that is photoshop document
Other than that a lot of options are available
Mostly we prefer jpg, png when there is no usage of background and tiff.
In these formats of photoshop, we can save any Image that is created.
After that comes, ‘save as’, if you want to make a copy of the same, then you will use save as .
I hope everything is clear so far.
After that in files next is the “revert” option.
Let’s see what happens in revert?
After opening the file if you want to remove everything that you have done so far, then you can use this option.
However, if you want your original work back, then you don't have to do anything,
just go to the ‘files’ And do revert or just press ctrl+f12.
Then your original page will appear on your screen.
Next comes “place embed”. What happens with this is, if you want to bring some other file with this image in this file, then you will use place embed.
For that, I will go here, select it and paste it. See here it is
Clicking enter will bring this into two different layers
In the file you can see another option named print, which is meant for printing your page directly.
Here are different options for printers, you can print normally from here.

This is my first image that I opened previously.
We can also close it from here.
Now let's come to the tools.
Here What you see is your toolbar.
you are seeing all the options here.
All these are known as pallet.
All these pallets can be opened from the Windows .
This whole screen of ours, we can call it a work space. okay?
So basically we will call our working area, a workspace.
The first tool inside the tools is called a move tool.
Here is your move tool and it's shortcut is V.
You can move any image by using the move tool.
But if I move this image now, nothing will happen.
Here, in the pop up notification, it is written that “could not use the move tool because the layer is locked” .
If you want to move any of the images, you'll need to unlock the layer.
So how will that be?
Here you have been given the option of layer.
First of all, click on that.
Now you can see that the pallet of the layer has been opened here.
Here in the layer pallet you can see the lock option.
you have to double click it.
On double clicking, a dialog box will open of new layer.
There it is asking, if you want to give a name to this new layer?
If you don't want to give, you can keep it as “layer zero”.
If you want to select any specific color of the layer for identification, then you can do that too.
Like here I am selecting the red color.
and keep it in normal mode only.
Then click on Ok.
As soon as you do ok there,
Once you select on ok,you will see that the red symbol has come here.
Now let’s understand the use of color that we did here.
If we do any work in Photoshop, then many layers keep creating.
Sometimes we can get confused about the layers.
So that's why we fill it with different colors.
For example, all the layers of red color have images of this type.
All the layers of green color have images of this type.
To identify different types of images, we give it different colors.
Usually it is not mandatory to use color.
After unlocking, you can move this image.
If I click on this arrow key, then the pallet will be temporarily closed.
Now you can move this image comfortably.
Look, as soon as I move this image, you can see a background behind the image.
If you remember, I had shown you the option of transparent background in the starting of our session.
So This is that transparent background. okay?
Before this, when we opened the new page, there was a white background.
So that's your white background. okay?
