File Menu in Photoshop

Now let’s get started with its features

First of all here is the file menu given, in the file menu, first option is NEW

shortcut of new is ctrl+N.

NEW !

We use new for opening a new page.

First here is given “name”

in name you can give any name for your page according to you

For example, let's give the name as page no.1 .

Under that there will be an option called “document type”.

In that different types of documents are available

 such as :- U.S. paper, international paper, photo, web and many other document types are given.

In U.S. paper normally, there are different sizes of papers are given like letter, legal

Under international paper the sizes like A4, A5, A6, A3 are given.

After that here given is “photo”

 photo has 2 things

1. Landscapes
2. Portrait

Now what are landscapes and portraits?

. Landscapes means horizontal page

Whereas,

. Portraits means vertical page

Vertical page means it contains more height and less width of the page.

The landscape has the opposite, more width and less height.

Suppose here we can give landscape of 2*3

So here you can see the width is 3 and height is 2 as a result paper became long.

And now if we will take portrait of 2*3

width will be 2 and height will be 3.

So in this way happens landscapes and portraits.

After that here it comes web,

there are some different sizes related to web are given

this means if we want to make any websites or any templates of websites

So for that different sizes are provided to us

you can use any of those sizes.

After that, here is given mobile app design

What happens in mobile app design?

if you want to design any application of mobile or template of any software of mobile, in photoshop, for that several sizes available

Among these, whatever size you want you can choose it.

After that, here is given film and video

if you want to keep the design of any advertisement on a large screen, so for that here are different sizes available and you can choose any of those.

After that here is given “iconography”.

As you saw earlier, mobile app design

 It is similar to that only.

in that also you can see the different sizes are given like Mac icons or ios.

At last comes the art board, in that also there are different sizes available such as websites, ipod or apple.

Then comes the custom. What happens in custom is

if you to add the sizes according to you, so you have to use custom

You can add any size from here

For now lets go ahead by taking default size of the photoshop

From here you can type any size,

For example i want to put 10 here and in height 15, so like this we can put sizes.

Here are its measurements given, pixels, inches, centimeters.

In this way here are resolutions also given

you can see here already is a resolution of 300

What is the use of 300 resolutions?

If you are making any design with the purpose of painting then you have to use 300 resolution. Otherwise, if you have a purpose to show it on any screen or to make any webpage for a website or to design a mobile application, the resolution should be 72.

So basically, resolution depends on the purpose of design.

It's a raster based software, so normally here RGB is used, RGB means red green and blue

If use is for printing, CMYK is used, cyan, magenta, yellow, black. Like this other color modes are also available.

Normally we have to use RGB.

Under that here is given background content, you have to keep background content only white.

Except that if you want to keep any other background content, there is an option of background color

From the background color, you can add a background of any color.

 For example, here I am putting red so the background will be changed into a red color.

 If you want to put it as transparent, transparent means if you want the background anyhow, zero background, background will be removed and transparent will be there.

 Normally here you have to use white color

After doing all these as I will click ok, my page will be opened here.

Now there is an option in file of “open recent”

What happens with “open recent”?

In open recent we can see the list of files which were opened recently

so you don’t need to go at path in open, you can just directly open it from here

Selecting “close all” in files will close all files that were open

In “close” only one file will be closed that is already running

But in close all, all files which are open will be closed.

Here to save, option is given as “save”

In that PSD which means you can save in photoshop document

 Other than that a lot of options available

Mostly we prefer jpg, png when there is no usage of background and tiff

These are used at most

In these formats of photoshop, we can save any created image.

After that comes save as, if you want to make a copy of the same, then we will use save as .

After that in files next is given “revert”

What happens in revert?

After opening the file whatever you have worked on it, that work has to be removed,

I want my original work back, then you don't have to do anything,

just go to files And do revert or just press ctrl+f12.

Then your original page will appear on your screen.

Next comes “place embed” what happens with this is, if you want to bring some other file with this image in this file, then you will use place embed.

Like I will go here, select it and paste it. See here it is

Clicking enter will bring this into two different layers

In the file you can see another option named print, you can directly print your page from here

Here are different options for printer, you have to print normally
