Marquee Tool in Photoshop

In today’s session we will learn about selection tool

That where and how it is used

under this one more move tool is given

All these tools given here are selection tools.

First selection tool is a rectangular marquee tool.

Shortcut for this tool is M.

Now, here I selected rectangular marquee tool

how to use this tool, have a watch.

first of all, click from where you have to select

after clicking drag the mouse

the moment you drag it , then one square shape will come up

As much part you want to select, select that much and release the mouse point over there 

As you will release the mouse, that much part will be selected.

From where you have to start selection, first of all you have to got there and make a click

after clicking, you have to drag it from there and release the click till part you want to select

As you release the click that part will be selected

after getting selected , here is one tool

This tool will appear automatically and from that tool you can move the selected area.

You have to remember one thing: you don't have move this with help of move tool

because the Move tool will cut the selection,it won't make it move.

Regarding the selection, here are some options given on the upper part

in which first option is called new selection

what we just did here is new selection

and next to that there is a second selection tool, which we will call as add selection

with help of add selection

whatever you have selected and if you want to add something in that

so then it is used. 

As per example, this much part that we have selected,

I have to add the bottom part to it

so , how will we do this?

the part you want to add , that part you have to select like this

now see , the bottom part is added in selection 

Now if you want to undo that, use ctrl+alt+Z.

the Ctrl+alt+Z means step backward

means in photoshop , you have to keep undoing , then you have to keep step backward

why?

because here you can do the undo , you can do the ctrl + z

but in photoshop only once you can do the ctrl + z

That's why if you want to go back more than once, then you have to do step backward .

Similarly there is an step forward

For which Shortcut key is shift+ctrl+Z.

Similarly, if you want to forward your steps

so you have to go in edit and do the step forward.

In this way, There are also different selection tools.

Such as ,after that one more tool comes that is 

Elliptical marquee tool, means that rectangular tool used to select in rectangular shape but elliptical tool will select in round.

for example , here i have done the selection

this will select the part in a circle and if we cut this from the move tool then it will get cut in a round shape.

We will do ctrl+D and unlock the background.

similarly there is one more selection tool: single row marquee tool

means if you want a selection of a small line then you can use this tool.

Overall this is used to delete small lines or to make patterns

like here deleting the selected part, i am moving ahead

you'll see , I am zooming it here

then this amount of part is getting deleted

you press the delete key and can delete any selection 

i have deleted one more

And deleted one more part

now pressing ctrl + D , we will deselect it

now selection is gone 

If you want to delete any selected area, directly from your keyboard, then have to press delete.

 There are more options of deleting as well

which we will see ahead.

for now i will show you one more thing

That is a single column marquee tool.

like there is a single row marquee tool, the same here is a single column marquee tool.

 Same selection is made but in this it will get selected vertically, like this

This is called single row marquee tool

I will do ctrl D and deselect

One more thing, you saw 2 mins back that I have zoomed this page 

So how to do zoom in zoom out, in photoshop, i will teach you that

There are many different ways to do zoom in and zoom out

Firstly, on keyboard press alt and with the help of scroll wheel , we can zoom in or zoom out, first

Second, you can ctrl+ or press ctrl-

Third one, inside the windows there is a pallet given, which we'll call navigator

in navigator, you can see there is a red color border

as you can see there is 50% zoom , like this you can zoom into this

even you can hold and do the zoom in or zoom out. 

you have zoomed this much part

 If you want to see the bottom part

Go there Can you see this hand tool ?

 you can move this red border with help of hand tool

then you will be able to see the other part

like this you can zoom in or zoom out

click on this arrow and your pallet will be closed.
