The menu bar, which is the toolbar at the top of the screen, contains the majority of the menus. Buttons, menus, or a combination of the two can be seen on toolbars. A toolbar is simply a group of icons that acts as a shortcut to using a drop-down menu.
Excel menus are helpful for people who are not familiar with Excel, as they provide the most common commands in one place. Menus can be customized and updated to suit your needs.
Choose the cell in the worksheet where the drop-down list should appear. Select Data Validation from the Data tab on the Ribbon. Click List in the Allow box on the Settings tab. Check the Ignore blank box if it's OK for people to leave the cell empty.
While the contents of menu bars vary by application, most feature the usual File, Edit, and View options. New, Open..., Save, and Print are all available under the File menu. Undo, Select All, Copy, and Paste are all available from the Edit menu.
The top of the screen's Menu Bar provides access to many commands for tasks such as opening and closing files, printing documents, formatting data, and other actions.
