To apply the Format function, we need to select the cell that contains the date-time value and then type a comma after it. After that, we should type "Format" and then press Enter on our keyboard. The screen will show us two options - General and Custom.
Select the cells you want to format.
Press CTRL+1.
In the Format Cells box, click the Number tab.
In the Category list, click Date.
Under Type, pick a date format.
If you want to use a date format according to how another language displays dates, choose
the language in Locale (location).
The following is a list of shortcuts for formatting date-time in MS Excel:
Ctrl + Shift + R - Format cells as date.
Ctrl + Shift + D - Format cells as time.
Ctrl + Shift + T - Format cells as time with am/pm.
Ctrl + Shift + H - Format cells as 24 hour clock.
Ctrl+Shift+ A – Apply the same formatting to all cells in the selection.
You can use the Preview tab to see how your changes will look before you apply them to your document. You’ll also be able to see how the formatting will change for each paragraph, including lists and headings. Previewing formatting changes before applying them is a great way to make sure that you are not wasting time on formatting that will not be used.
As previously stated, the excel time format code is hh:mm:ss. Let me now go over this code in detail. hh: This time code is a double-digit figure that reflects the hour component of the time. For example, in the preceding example, our time value was 06; however, if you merely say "h," the hour part will only be 6, not 06.
