Go to File > Info. Choose Encrypt with Password from the Protect Workbook box. Select OK after entering a password in the Password box. Select OK after confirming the password in the Reenter Password window.
Begin by opening a workbook.
Select Save As from the File tab.
Choose Browse.
Go to the Tools menu and select General Options.
Type a password in the Password to Modify box and click OK.
Enter your password again and click OK.
Give the file a name and save it.
Keep the workbook's structure safe:
Select Review > Workbook Protection. Note: Only Excel 2007, Excel 2010, Excel for Mac 2011, and Excel 2016 for Mac support the Windows option.
In the Password box, type a password. Important:
Click OK after retyping the password.
