From passenger bags and perishable items to horses and Formula One vehicles, ULDs can transport any type of cargo. There are two types of ULDs: aircraft containers and aircraft pallet/net combinations.
An important aspect of aviation safety An airworthy ULD must be structurally capable of restraining loads and protecting the aircraft's systems and structure while in flight.
The pivot weight Uj of a ULD is the weight below which the cargo is charged the under-pivot rate. Any weight that falls between the pivot weight and the ULD's maximum capacity is charged at an over-pivot rate, which is higher than the pivot rate.
Containers and Pallets are the two types of Unit Load Devices (ULDs). Pallets and containers allow a considerable amount of cargo to be bundled into a single unit that may be transported by wide-body and narrow-body aeroplanes. Pallet cargo is secured by a net affixed to the rim of the pallet.
Pallets and containers are the two types of ULDs. ULD pallets are tough aluminium sheets with rims that lock onto cargo net lugs.
