Uncomplicated bill of lading: The straight bill of lading is assigned to a certain party, and that party cannot assign it to anybody else.
Request a bill of lading. This is the most common bill of lading encountered onboard.
Bill of lading bearer
Change the bill of lading.
The Bill of Lading: An Overview Three invoices are typically issued: one for the shipper, one for the consignee, and one for the banker, broker, or other third party.
Original must be written on all three Bills of Lading, and duplicate or triplicate should not be written on the second or third.
"A document issued by a carrier, or its agent, to the shipper as a contract of carriage of goods," says Wikipedia. It also serves as a receipt for cargo that has been accepted for shipment and must be presented for delivery at the destination."
The consignor (the person or firm shipping the goods) must stamp and sign the negotiable bill of lading before it may be transferred. The carrier must then deliver it. The consignee's order must be written on a negotiable bill of lading. A clean bill of lading is required.
