Dry ports are inland container depots (ICDs) and container freight stations (CFSs) that handle all customs formalities associated with the import and export of commodities. ICDs and CFS serve as logistical hubs in a multimodal transport logistics system.
Before the items are shipped, a CFS is in charge of consolidating cargo and packing them into containers. This procedure avoids traffic congestion at the origin port and ensures that the cargo is transported effectively.
A container storage facility located in the hinterlands, away from any major port, is known as an inland container depot (ICD). ICDs are used by shipping companies to hold and move shipping containers before and after they are transported to the dock.
Container Freight Station (CFS) is a warehouse where cargo from different exporters or importers is consolidated or deconsolidated before being exported or imported.
The most commonly used phrase in the shipping industry is container depot. In simple terms, a container depot is a location where you can temporarily keep your shipping containers after they've been unloaded off the ship. However, a depot can provide much more to this market.
