Every first-time exporter must register with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. The DGFT assigns an IEC Number to each exporter. IEC Number is a ten-digit code that is necessary for both export and import.
Every import/export business owner in India needs an import export code, which is a unique 10-digit code. Importers need IEC to clear customs and export their goods, as well as to transfer money to overseas banks. Exporters must have an IEC in order to send shipments and receive funds from overseas banks.
Sign up for your IEC. The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a necessary corporate identifying number for exports and imports. No one may import or export without first obtaining an IEC Number from the DGFT.
The registration fee for an IEC code number is Rs. 250.00, which can be paid via EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) and submitted via the IEC Online Application form.
