What is E-Commerce?

Hello guys, welcome back to this special training program where we are going to learn how to sell effectively on E-Commerce whether you are setting up your business or someone else’s.

It is very necessary to know how we have to do it step by step & how by learning it step by step, we can take our business online.

So the first topic I’ll start off with is, What is E-Commerce?

We have understood the ‘why’ during the Introduction, now it’s time to understand what E-Commerce is.

To understand this, it is necessary to know its history, how it started.

You must be surprised how after Charles Babbage invented the computer, we are using Advanced Computer through which I’m giving you the training & through which you are taking the training.

How did it happen? Something would have happened from the start until now, right?

A lot of strategic minds gathered & created a system through which we are able to use the internet.

So how did it start?

After Charles Babbage, a project named ARPANET was invented.

ARPANET was a US Defense project in which it was mentioned that we have made a computer, but is that computer able to communicate with each other?

Such as us human beings, we communicate with each other, we share ideas through words, texts, videos etc etc.

So will the computer be able to exchange information with another computer or not?

It sounds a little bit childish/naive to say but yes, it was not possible before while it is possible today.

It’s in the same way when people back then used to wonder if they will ever be able to do it?

And today, we are able to do it.

For example, people used to speculate if we could fly while that is possible today because of airplanes.

The Wright Brothers invented airplanes, due to which we are able to reach another dimension, okay?

In the same way, after the computer was invented, when ARPANET launched, during that time many people were working but ARPANET was proven to be successful.

And I would like to tell you that it was ARPANET only which told us about the exchange of information through which computers can interchange data within a network.

But there was a little defect when a word was sent for the first time & I’d like to tell you that the first word was Login, but after L O, the word got crashed.

This was an achievement & we got to know how it crashed.

LO was the first word, you can most certainly search it on the internet, all of this information is available on Wikipedia.

Throughout the training program, in this small video also, I’m going to show you some glimpses, some honorable mentions in which first is ARPANET.

ARPANET established how we can exchange data from one computer to another computer.

After that, at Stanford & MIT Universities, in 1972, in 1972, first sales was established.

Yes! In the university, a network, a model was established by ARPANET, in Stanford University & MIT University in 1972.

After that, a person named Michael Aldrich.

Michael Aldrich, who is known as the godfather of online shopping.

Till now you must have seen it on TV where many people are selling things online on tv.

For example, on TV it is naaptol.

Naaptol is one such site which has a website also & yes! They do have a TV channel as well.

But this concept of teleshopping was given by him, that idea was given by him to the whole world that we can increase the selling & buying of business behaviour through TV channels too.

It was invented in 1979.

After that, a lot of inventions took place where the first official online platform was made whose name was Boston Computer Exchange.

Yes, Boston Computer Exchange, in the year of 1982.

They told the world we can set up E-Commerce through the internet.

Yes, the internet was growing at that time & they had launched the first E-Commerce where the old computers were being sold, exchange was taking place.

Then after that, in the computer's journey, in the internet's journey, 1 more name got added, whose name is Tim Berners Lee.

His full name is Timothy Berners Lee.

In 1989, in CERN Geneva, he founded WWW.

Www was an official web browser through which even today, you are still using the internet.

He is the founder of www, through which we are using html, http, we can make a proper website, all thanks to him.

Now moving forward in history, another website called Book Stack Unlimited surfaced.

Yes! In 1992, which gave this idea of book selling to whom?

I have already told you the name, amazon.com.

Yes! Through Book Stack Unlimited, Amazon got the idea of launching a book store.

And Jeff Bezos launched his website, Amazon.com in 1995 alongside Ebay & during that time, many inventions took place & today we are in the internet era, where there are a number of E-Commerce platforms, E-Commerce sellings also are there, buying & selling is happening, but it is also necessary to know the history which started from Charles Babbage, who gave a very nice system of Computer to the world, after that came ARPANET & Michael Aldrich.

He gave the idea of teleshopping that we can do online shopping.

Boston Computer Exchange, then Timothy Berners Lee, Book Stack Unlimited, after that was Amazon.

And we are able to see this whole internet era through our eyes, as in how it started & how we are using it right now.

And I’d like to tell you one more thing, with the increase in the number of inventions, there will be an increase in E-Commerce also.

So it is necessary to know what E-Commerce is.

So what is E-Commerce?

E-Commerce is nothing but Electronic Commerce.

It is the activity of electronically buying or selling of products on online services or over the internet.

Yes! You can buy your product online or sell it.

Yes! You have the possibility, a power that now you can sell or buy any product.

And yes, there have been many other inventions, I’d like to share one more which is Alexa.

Yes, Alexa! Alexa is an automation tool through which you can sell & buy through voice command.

Yes! Selling & buying through electronic gadgets.

You can buy or sell through mobile or tablet or through any medium that is connected through the internet or through electronic means, if you are able to reach the customers, all of which is happening through electronic gadgets, if it is being bought or sold, this whole phenomenon is called E-Commerce.

Yes! E means electronic & commerce means selling or buying.

If we are selling or buying through electronic gadgets, then we are doing E-Commerce.

Yes! And there are many features involved in this.

Previously, there were no coupons but now, there are enormous amounts of coupons.

You can pick up on any apps, every website is promoting loyalty cards through various features in E-Commerce such as Accessible, E-Commerce has become easier now than before, making a website was very difficult in the past but now, within a fraction of second, you can make an E-Commerce website.

Sell over Globe.

Nowadays there are no limitations, you can sell in India also & even internationally.

Real time feedback - people can connect with you through social media to let you know if they liked your product, they can also give a review, you can set up a proper relation with your customer by staying 24 by 7, customer can give a feedback, you can even reach any customer who doesn’t belong to your area, nor with your target audience.

You can reach those people who are new for you.

And how does that happen?
