Camera , Lights and Background in Product Photoshoot

Hello friends, welcome back to this wonderful training program where we are going to learn ‘How to sell effectively on E-Commerce’.

So let’s start with this topic.

Until now we saw what is an E-Commerce photoshoot.

Now we are going to start with Camera.

Yes! Camera.

Now see friends, in this session we are going to understand why camera, light & background are necessary & how we can use it in an effective way.

Yes I do know from all the people watching the video, some might want to become budget friendly.

As in, some might want to know if there are any tips where even if we keep a small budget, we can start.

I know many might even be belonging to a start up firm, some might be professionals who are already running a business.

This video is a mix, I’m going to give neutral tips, whichever tips you are liking, please follow it into your business & grow it, okay?

So let’s start with the camera.

Friends, many of you might be thinking that I don’t have a camera, that I don’t have that big professional camera.

I’ll tell you that your mobile has a camera.

There is a camera, right?

Or you might have a friend who has a hifi phone or a larger phone.

For example : Apple, OnePlus or Oppo, there are many mobiles.

There are many mobiles which have good quality cameras.

Nowadays we have many inventions related to cameras, we have many gadgets, look, I am recording it on my Apple laptop only & I hope I am looking good, okay?

So the first thing you should know related to the camera is that in product shoots like I have said before, whatever is visible, sells.

Yes! Whatever is visible, whatever is appealing, sells.

Even though you don’t have a DSLR camera or a bigger camera, you must have a mobile.

Are the pictures clear enough?

What do we need? All we need is to know whether the mobile pictures are clear or not.

That image should be kept in a very nice way in front of the customers, in front of the target audience.

If you are able to do that, then yes, you can do the photoshoot, that too in a very nice way.

So let’s start with the lower budget.

If you have a low budget & you want to invest then let me give you a suggestion, which is ‘Ask a friend for help’.

There must be at least 1 friend in your friendlist who has a nice camera.

Ask him or her for a 1 day shoot.

Yes! See, being a businessman, one might not have much time.

If you already are a professional, a businessman or a freelancer plus you are going to join E-Commerce, then you would have much more work.

So what do you have to do, friends?

I’m going to give you a single tip, a strategic tip that is, plan your photoshoot in 1 day.

If you are able to plan it in 1 day, then you can save a lot of your time.

You can save a lot of time & grow your business further with new techniques.

So let’s start with option 1.

What is option 1?

Option 1 is ‘Ask a friend for help’.

Yes, ask your friend if they can come to you for a day for your product photoshoot.

You can offer them money or can give them a party.

A friend mostly needs a treat in return, okay?

So option 1 is ‘Ask a friend for help’.

When you are doing a photoshoot from your camera, sometimes what happens is, the photos get blurred.

Sometimes the image is blurred, sometimes the photos don’t turn out properly.

Like you can see in this image that the photo of the friend standing in the front is not proper but the photo of the one standing behind is a very nice one.

So this happens at times, that the image might turn out blurry, someone’s image will not be good, while someone else’s might be good.

I’ll give you a simple solution, that is, try to use a tripod.

Yes! A tripod or you can call it a camera holder also.

It is easily available in the online as well as offline market.

What are its benefits, friends?

It doesn’t bring blurriness.

It will stick to one place.

And the one more benefit to it is, even if your friend refuses, then try with your phone.

Or borrow someone’s phone for a day & do a photoshoot with their phone.

So this is a budget friendly idea.

Now if you have a bit higher budget, okay, if you have a bit higher budget, then I suggest option 2.

What is option 2?

Search online & there are a lot of professionals who can provide their services for 8 or 10 hours a day.

What is the service? Professional photography.

There are many professional photographers.

All you need to do is, search professional photographers near me & you will find a large number of them.

They will tell you their per day budget, so choose whichever budget suits you & call them for a day.

As they are already experienced in professional photography, they will have more ideas due to which they can give you different ideas regarding the photoshoot.

There is one more important thing which is, many people might have a way higher budget & they want to invest, then they buy the camera itself.

It is a normal thing to buy a camera.

But I would like to give you a suggestion, a reasonable suggestion, that if you are going to use it only for 1 day, then don’t buy a camera.

Rather go for a professional service.

If you go for a professional service, they already have good cameras so you won’t need to invest that much in the camera.

Because cameras are very expensive & it is an asset for the company.

If investing in a camera is not that important, then I recommend that you skip buying the camera.

Yes! Please skip buying the camera.

It is a small suggestion from my side but if you have made up your mind that you want to buy a camera, then go with that as it is a lifetime asset.

Yes! It is also a lifetime asset, you can do a photoshoot with your camera anytime of any occasion whatsoever, okay?

So if you have a budget & you have made up your mind, then go with that.

But if you are buying a camera for only 1 day, then don’t go with that.

Either invest that budget in promotion, which again we are going to learn ahead, okay?

So these are the 3 options that I have for you related to cameras.

Whatever your budget is - small, medium, high, I request you to choose one option, okay?

Next comes lights.

What are lights?

What will be the effect of lights?

If you are watching this video, you can see my face clearly.

That is because I have surrounded myself with lights so that I am clearly visible to you, so that my expressions are recognisable.

So that you can understand by eye contact in this training, just as if we are sitting face to face.

Okay?

So lights play a major role in photoshoots.

Lights in product shoot is advantageous because it will help to portray the product in a realistic manner.

Yes! In a realistic way, means to show just the way it is.

You can use sunlight as well as artificial lights too.

Like you can see in the example here, that this photoshoot happened with sunlight.

If you are going to use artificial lights, then you can see it in the second image here.

If you have seen big photoshoots on YouTube, then you can see that they have used specially designed artificial lights which throw the light from all the sides & it looks as if the product is coming out of the image.

They promote the product in such a way that it pushes you towards buying it.

Yes! You will surely buy it because they would have used the lightings in such a beautiful manner.

So lights impact massively on the photoshoot.

You can use sunlight also if you have less budget & if you have a little higher budget, then use light.

You can use any light of your choice, search a bit about them.

Search about artificial lights, and you will find many.

For example- you must have seen on Instagram and YouTube, people use ring light.

Why? Because they focus mainly on their faces.

In the same way, you can use a big light, be it halogen or any other light you prefer.

Try it initially & if it suits your product, then go with that.
Or else you can also use a professional service, like I said in the 3rd option.

In that 3rd option, there are professional services which you hire for the day, sometimes come with their own lights, camera & background, okay?

Then after lights, another main topic is ‘background’.

Yes! Background.

‘For your background & styling, use your inspirational photos’.

Yes! Use your inspirational photos.

You must have seen many photos on Instagram, pinterest & other social media & mainly E-Commerce images which I have explained to you in the previous topics also, the background is mainly white.

Yes! The background is white.

You too can go with keeping the background white, you can keep the lighting proper & go with a simple thing, see, it might be possible that your competitor is not using a hifi background, by analysing what kind of image your competitor is using, plan what kind of background can go with our business.

It is possible for you to go with white or go realistic.

So keep 1 thing in your mind that when you are doing a photoshoot, you can delete the photographs which haven’t turned out good & keep the nice ones.

Photoshoot is very important.

Background is important, light is important, camera is important, okay?

Just like if we see in this background, we are taking jewellery as an example, you can see a necklace here, you can see that there’s a white background behind.

The white background can be anything!

You can bring a white curtain from the market, you can choose any white colour background where your product can be seen clearly because in white colour, the product will reflect a lot well & all the angles will be seen properly.

I recommend you to keep the background white then your product will look much better.

Okay friends?

So let’s move into the next step.

Next step is - ‘Take lots of photos’.

Yes! Take every angle.

Look at your product from every angle so that the customer can view your product from every angle.

Yes! So that the customer can see it.

For example: you go to a restaurant, you see the menu & there are photos in it also.

Suppose you go to a shop to buy a sofa, you will see the sofa from every angle.

In the same way friends, in this virtual world, yes, in the virtual world, image is very important.

Image is very important.

If you have made a video & clicked photos from every angle, then I guarantee that if the customer has seen it from every angle, you have a 50% chance that that person will buy that product some time at least as you have shown it from every angle, okay?
