Hello everyone.
So, in this module, we covered a few topics such as “what is catalogue, preparation of catalogue” etcetera.
Friends, while preparing a catalogue online, many sites forget one thing. What do they forget? Well, they forget about the “manufacturer and the company”.
Now, look. If you are manufacturing the product yourself and selling it, then there is no problem. You don’t have to worry a bit before purchasing the product. But suppose you are a retailer or a wholesaler which will obviously mean that you are not manufacturing the product but buying from the company and selling it, now in such situations many people will have doubts before purchasing, some questions will arise in their minds like am I the only one doing all the things? I created the platform and I am also the investor. Is the manufacturer or the company gaining all the fame? Trust me, it is normal to have such doubts. (Repeat 2 times). But now tell me, if you don’t mention the manufacturer’s name or the company’s name and rather mention your own company’s name. What will happen? Well, there are many drawbacks to this. you know about the advantages that you will gain all the name and fame. You will gain a lot of popularity. But there is one more thing, you will get caught up in all the governmental issues like you will have to pay taxes and a lot of other stuff. In simple language you can say, you will have to carry all the burden. (Are you getting it?)
Now, let me show you where you can put the manufacturer and company’s information through an example.
So, this is the example that you saw recently in the previous session. If you remember I gave you an example of the Alibaba platform where they have displayed the company’s profile and the product profile very nicely.
2:21
They have displayed each and every smallest of information in detail. They have shown the manufacturer’s details, the company’s details and many more things.
Come, let me show you that once again practically. So, this is the website- “Alibaba.com”. Now when you search for any XYZ product and scroll down, you will find the company profile for sure in each product. You will find all the information like the company’s name, who the manufacturer is, in which region is the company located, in which city or country does the company belong, the “annual revenue of the company”. Look, it's totally fine if you don’t mention the revenue. But, in Alibaba, they have mentioned all such information in detail to gain their customer’s trust.
Well, to gain the customer’s trust, this is very important as the customer can see all the information like yes, they have tie-up with so and so company. Who are “they”? Here they mean Alibaba. I am showing you an example of Alibaba so this means Alibaba has a tie-up with so and so company. The company might have made a contract that we will provide you with this many products and we will sell to you only.
Have a look. Here they have provided some information on “product capacity”, then “R and D capacity” of the company, “trade capabilities” of the company and much more information including how the company manages all these things. So, they have mentioned each and every piece of detail in their product profile and catalogue where they have also included the profile of the manufacturer and the company.

Now, why did they do that? I would like to tell you one thing here.
Well, “government of India” clearly states that if you don’t mention the name of the manufacturer or the company that has actually prepared the finished goods, then you are going against the law. Because it is very important according to the “legal metrology packaged commodities rules, 2011” and “consumer protection E-commerce rules, 2020”. These rules clearly state that you have to mention the origin of the product which means you have to mention the name of the country or city from where the product is prepared. It is very important to add the details of the company including the name. why? Because this is a rule under the consumer protection act.
“Consumer protection act” or you can also call it “consumer protection rules 2020”. So, the Government of India has passed many laws related to E-commerce. Some of the law mentions that you cannot divert or misguide the consumer and in the same law there is one more thing that is very important. To add the name of the manufacturer and the company. This law did not come until recently in 2020. It was not necessary before that.
The Government of India sent a letter to all the platforms like Amazon, Flipkart and many other platforms that from now on it is mandatory to provide all this information. Okay.
Just go and check any website or platform randomly, you will find the manufacturer’s name and the company’s name for sure.
We have specially included this topic in our training program so that you are fully aware that whenever you are selling a product that is not manufactured by you, it is mandatory for you to mention the name and the origin of the product from where it is originally manufactured in the product description.
If you don’t mention it in your product’s catalogue then you will be going against the law. So please be sure that whenever you create a product catalogue you have to include the manufacturers and company’s name. if possible, add some more description regarding your company. Ok friends. (Understood?).

Come let’s have a look one more time at all the platforms that we recently explored. So come, let’s check if all the platforms are providing these details or not?
Well, this was the first example we saw previously. So, here you can see “manufacturing, packaging and import information”. Have a look, here they have included in-depth information on manufacturing, import as well as packaging. Then they have also provided “packer’s details” and “manufacturer’s details”.
Now when you go to “Myntra”, here also you will see all the information like this particular product is made by roadster.
Then when you go to “pepper fry”, here also they have included all the details like brands, so this particular product belongs to the “spacewood” brand.
Now when you have a look at this website, they have displayed the company profile as well as product profile very nicely. Moreover, they have displayed each and every feature of the product very accurately. They have also provided some images of their office and company as well as a few inside pictures of how they work and manufacture. They have also added a few pictures of “production, warehouse, packaging and inspection” and many more details are added.
No matter which platform you explore, amazon, flipkart, you will see the company’s details below the product for sure.
You can check and explore this by visiting various platforms. I suggest you go and check on several platforms if they have provided the manufacturers and company’s details or not.
