Hello everyone. Welcome once again to this special training program of Learn Vern, where we are learning “How to sell effectively on E-Commerce?”
Well, yes, friends.
You can also set up your business on this journey of E-commerce where tons and tons of people are using the online platform to sell their products to their customers.
In this module, we are going to learn about “keyword research”. I am sure you might have heard this term. “keyword”.
Come let’s understand this.
Well, if you want to understand anything, just divide it into 2 parts and then try to understand each part individually.
For example, “key”.
So “key” means “important”.
And what does “word” mean? So, “search queries”.
What does “search query” mean?
So, in the search engine when you search anything, for example, let’s say you search who is Sushant Mahato? Or you search for E-commerce? Or what is product cataloguing? Or what is a keyword? Okay. So, when you search for anything, that basically becomes a search query.
And if that search query is important for me, for example, let’s say I am selling mobile phones and when someone searches mobile, then that becomes a keyword for me which means it is an important word for me. It has become an important search query for me.
Now come, let's understand this with an example.
There is no doubt that everyone knows this person. Now, tell me one thing. Can you search for this person without his name? Just think once.
“Can you search for him without his name?”
Just try and think once.
Will you be able to search for this person without using his name?
As you all know he is a very famous personality worldwide.
Now, when you type something that matches his personality, you will notice that he ranks first on the search page.
Come let’s see. So, I took a screenshot of this for you when I searched on google.
So, when you type “king khan” (repeat), you will get so many results but the result on top will always be “Shahrukh khan”. The legendary “Sharukh khan”. Yes SRK. My favorite “Shahrukh khan”.
So, when you wanted to search for him, what did you type without using his name? “King Khan”. So, what is “king khan”.
“King khan” is a keyword to search for him.
So, when you want to search “Shahrukh khan” you can type king khan apart from his name.
Well, friends, in the same way when a person searches for your product or your company, that will have a special query for sure. (repeat)
For example, the search query for “mobile” is “mobile”. For “furniture”, it is “furniture”, table furniture etcetera. What I mean to say is they might search in multiple ways.
So come, let's have a look at this practically and understand.
To have a look at a practical example, here I would like to take an example of Amazon. Yes, Amazon is the largest online selling platform. I am sure whatever product you are selling is listed on Amazon because Amazon has the largest stock of products in the world. (repeat). This is said to be the world’s most famous and number one website.
So, what will you do here? You will have to do keyword research here.
Now, what do I have to do for keyword research? Let me show you an example of furniture. So, with the help of furniture as an example, I am going to show you how you can collect some keywords from here.
Well, when people come to amazon, they definitely search for one or the other thing.
Now come let’s search for “furniture”. So here I typed furniture. As soon as I typed furniture, have a look. You can see all the related search queries here.
Here you can see “furniture for home, furniture for mover lifters, furniture for home living room, furniture polish, furniture wallpaper” and many other things.
Now let’s try searching for a mobile. Here, as soon as I type mobile all these options are seen like “mobile phone, mobile phone in electronics, mobile stand for table” etcetera. So, all the related words that you see here are nothing but keywords.
These are some of the words that the users have searched for very recently.
4:50
So, you can pick up some of the words from here and use them in the title of your product or the description of your product and you can use the keywords in many other places.
What do you get from keyword research?
So, whenever you think about creating a product title or description and when you use these keywords, you will definitely get very good results in your searches.
Let me show you an example of one more website. “Google”.
Well whenever you go to Google, you just have to type your product here, suppose my product is “mobile”. Now, as soon as I type “mobile”, have a look, here we can see a lot of other related searches for mobile. Like “mobile phone, mobile tracker, mobile cover, mobile watch, mobile shop near me, mobile shop Nagpur, mobile shop Sadar” etcetera.
So here you can see all the specific keywords related to your product.
Now suppose you want to find any other specific keyword such as “dress”, you can see a few keywords here like “dress design, dress for women” etcetera. What you have to do is just type dress and you will get various related keywords.
The results will be shown according to the recent searches. Well yes. You will see the results in related queries based on what the people have searched very recently on both amazon and google. And this is the best method to find keywords.
There is one more tool that is very useful and effective and I suggest this tool to all my students when they are learning digital marketing. Especially when you are selling on E-commerce, this tool is going to be very helpful for you.
Well, the name of this tool is “google trends”. (repeat).
So basically, you can see all the google searches on the backend of google and analyze that yes, these people have searched from so and so places. (repeat).
(06:47)
Well now, let me search and look across India for you. What you have to do is, go to this website. “Google trends”. G O O G L E T R E N D S (spell). So just search this in google and you will definitely get a link for this. In case you are unable to get the link. Have a look here on the screen, just use this special URL “trends.google.com”.
Now all you have to do here is search for your product like here I am searching for “furniture”. As soon as I type “furniture”,(6 seconds pause) I can see these results.
So you can see the results for “India” or “worldwide” if you are searching for the product internationally. Well, here I am selecting “worldwide”.
Then here I can select the time period like what were the search results for the “past 12 months” or “past 1 hour”.
Then which categories are used to search for furniture. And lastly which sources are used to search like “image search, news search, google search” etcetera. So where is it searched from? Well, you can see that too. (I hope you are following)
Then here you can see the exact results for “interest over time”.
Now, this is personally my favorite. “Interest by region”. Have a look, the results keep changing with regions. You can see the topmost country for this particular search query as well. And on the right-hand side, you can see “related queries”.
8:17
You can check if there is any keyword related to the furniture. Then can I find that keyword? Are the people really searching for this?
So, what can you see from google trends? Well, Google Trends will show you the results based on what people think. There is no doubt in saying that people will obviously search according to what comes to their mind and whatever they search, you can see that on google trends.
Well yes, Google Trends collects data from around the world and shows us the results based on what people are searching for in some specific country. I don’t know which country you are targeting? All you have to do is select the country here that you are targeting. Suppose let’s say you are targeting “India”, and as soon as you type “India”, you will notice that the zig-zag graph of “interest over time” has changed.
You will also see which region in India is searching for the furniture the most. So the number one state is “Gujarat”, then “Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, and Delhi”. Then on the right-hand side, you can see some other searches related to furniture. You can type any word and check here. Moreover, you can compare the words as well. With the help of this, you can analyze which are the most important keywords for you. And with the help of these keywords, what you can do is create a product catalogue. If you remember, I previously showed you an example in Flipkart where we saw they have used very good keywords like “women, white dress” etcetera. They have also given a good description. Then here you can see they have provided very useful information related to this jacket along with the product details.
10:08
Then in “pepper fry” we saw how efficiently and nicely they have provided all the information. Now to write that, they must have obviously required some words. Now, if you want to make those words and keywords, you will have to check all the related keywords and analyze. Can I use these keywords and create the best headline or product description? If the answer is yes, then trust me you will rank on top in E-commerce. Yes. Top rank. Why? Because when people search, your product will rank first on google as well as on any other specific platform where you are going to sell your product. And eventually, you will rank on google as well.
We have a special training program where I will teach you, how to rank on google? But for now, you just have to understand that “keyword research” is very important. (repeat). And when you succeed in doing proper keyword research as well as understanding the “important search queries” by collecting the data, people will search for you also without using the actual name.
People will search using search queries instead of your name and you will also rank in the google list, friends.
Just imagine, how good is it that people can see you without even searching your name directly and still see your name and your product’s name and as a result, you are getting very good traffic directly from google that is buying your product from your website.
