Hello everyone.
Friends, today's training session and today’s topic is also very important, which is “improving SEO on e-commerce platforms”.
Yes, “SEO on e-commerce platform”.
Now look, if you want to make your brand and product highly visible on any search engines or any particular platform, then it is more important for you to know what SEO is? because it is a very important topic where if you get its help or you learn it then you can improve the rank of your products on that search engine. (Understood?)
Yes, friends whether it be Amazon, a search engine is available on Amazon and also Flipkart, and google is a search engine itself. (Right?)
So, what is a search engine? And what is search engine optimization? We will learn everything about this topic in this small training program.
Look, friends, digital marketing or search engine optimization is a very technical subject where if you want to understand it in detail then we have other training programs too that you should go and check once.
Well, in this small program and module I have only tried to cover SEO.
So, let’s get started.
SEO. Now, what is SEO?
Well, SEO stands for search engine optimization. Thus, O stands for “optimization”.
Now, what is optimization? How to put our products or our website’s link in the first position on search engines. And by optimizing that whole technology, we can adapt it to the search engine. That is known as search engine optimization, friends.
Now how many search engines are available? Well, it’s in front of you, you can see it- its search engine, “Google, Bing, yahoo, Yandex, ask, duckduckgo, baidu” and there are many search engines out there.
The most famous one is Google. So, in Google or any other search engine how does search engine optimization work?
Well, this is a very technical subject. How will we understand it?
Well, don’t worry I am here.
So, let me first explain its basics to you. Okay.
what happens on search engines like what is search engine optimization. Well, it is nothing but there is a crawler like you can see this spider here. So, this crawler goes to every website and searches for some relevant information. What is that query, what is a query? Basically, it is a keyword that we understood in the last module.
Keywords, what is meant by keywords? So, suppose someone searched for Shah Rukh Khan, that becomes a keyword.
Now, if you want to search shah rukh khan without using the actual name shah rukh khan, how will you search it?
So, “king khan”. Now that becomes a search query that is Google's algorithm, bot or crawler will search it in every database where this data is present and finds out and showcases it in front of you. (Got it?)
Now, let’s try to understand its structure. What is its structure? How do search engines perform? How do search engines work?
Now look, the crawler that you see on your left-hand side, will search for the information on the entire internet, and fetches specific, trendy, and fresh information, and stores it in its database.
Now, in this database, as soon as the information or query comes it processes that information and indexes it.
Now look, understanding this is a little tricky but let me try to explain this with an example.
So, for instance, you go to a library, your favorite library in college or any private library, or anywhere in your city.
Now, when you go and visit that library and ask the librarian that I want a physics or chemistry book. What will the librarian say?
The librarian will instruct you that the book you are looking for is on that second shelf in the second column. You can go and pick it up from there.
While in some libraries, the librarian will only pick 2-3 books for you and show it to you and ask you to select anyone that you want to read or you can enroll or book it for yourself.
In some libraries, you have to pay some monthly fees while in some others you have to deposit some money. So, there are various things.
Well, I have taken this example of library, friends, because you can relate it with your search engine concept or search engine’s structure.
Look, friends, if we want to understand digital marketing or anything in the online world, see, this is a virtual world that has been taken from the real world.
Yes, every concept is taken from this real-world only like a computer, computer screen, computer speaks it has languages, it can communicate with us and through computer only I am able to teach you guys.
So, look, try to understand it through the Library's example.
So, the bot or crawler or artificial algorithm. The spider that you see has many names, bot, crawler, artificial intelligence, and web crawler. So, there are many things. Okay.
So, this person, crawler, bot, we will go with the bot.
So, the bot goes to the internet, now what does this mean? It goes into the internet and finds its specific information, same as a librarian finding books in the whole world and putting specific books in the library means keeping them in their database.
Now, in this database, they indexed it means arranged and organized it properly that yes, this book should be here and that book should be there.
Now, why did they do it? Because anytime any person comes and asks where this particular product or book is? So, the librarian can easily tell him that it is on this number or that number, okay.
Basically, all this work is done by the librarian and library's management.
So, these search engines can be related to the library management system if you compare and understand it properly, you will notice that this is a proper organization and database or it is a feature of indexing or functionality through which one person is arranging all the database and that database is seen by some other person. Okay.
So, a search engine is nothing but a place where lots of information is stored means a wide variety of information is there. You just have to go; type it and you can gather any information from it.
Hence, in the same way when you are on any platform like Amazon, Flipkart, or any other platform, and if you want to search for a computer, you will type computer in so and so budget and when you click search, how did the products rank there?
Well, they came through proper fetching, proper database organization or indexing. So, who did this indexing? The bot did it. (Clear?)
Now, how is the bot doing the indexing? On what behalf is the bot indexing? There must be something through which the bot is indexing. Look, friends. Many rules and regulations are made by every search engine, google has some different rules and regulations or the index would be having different rules or Bing would have something else.
So, basically, all search engines have different rules and regulations. And based on that, you will get ranking and indexing.
If you want an example, I will give it to you now. Just give me one minute. We will see it practically.
So, look friends, if I search here in search engine like in google, I am searching “learn Vern” as soon as I searched learn Vern here we see “learnvern dot com” then “play dot google dot com”, we have our app in the play store too, then LinkedIn then Instagram, these all are our profile details. (Are you getting it?)
Now, if I search the same thing in Yandex the ranking gets different free online courses. Here this link is showing this first and on second this, and on third it is showing YouTube then it is showing Quora then other different links are shown.
So, look, the ranking structures are different in this search engine.
Plus, Google's structure is a little different. If you go and check it on Bing, if I type learn Vern on Bing, as I entered the query on Bing the structure on Bing is different from your search, look. When you scroll down, the structure is different.
Well, that’s what I am trying to explain is that every search engine performs in different ways and the method of indexing is different. There are many search engines like Google, Bing, Yandex, and many more different search engines.
Now we cannot satisfy every search engine but you only understand that if you satisfy your user every search engine will be satisfied and you will be able to do a proper search engine optimization
So, just try to understand this structure.
See you right there with the next topic in our next module.
Thank you very much.
