Understanding the Facebook Dashboard

In the last topic we have understood about the Facebook business model and we have also seen why it is important for you. It is important because we are learning Facebook marketing right now.

Here we are going to talk about personal account creation. 

OK.

When you have to create a personal account, what you need to do. You just simply need to open facebook dot com.

This is a very simple step. you have to open facebook.com and then you need to click on “create new account”.

Let me show this to you by doing it practically.

Let me first search for facebook on Google. Then from here you have to open facebook.com.

Simply click on this link to open Facebook…

This page opens up. Then you will find the option of Create a new account.

You can also see the “create a page” option down here. you can create a business page through this option. That we are not going to learn right now. First of all we have to learn how to create our own personal account.

You might say that, we already know that.

I am sure you know how to create a facebook account but there may be some students who aren't aware of this.

It is good that you know how to create an account, but still I will tell you how to create an account as a lot of such basic things matter a lot.

When sometimes we use our Facebook account and run ads on Facebook, then we might face problems ensuring numbers, at times numbers might not exist. Either you face a problem with the number or number has been discontinued. So I will tell you how you can continue your account without entering any number.

I will also share with you the importance of the email ID which you enter here.

So let us understand all of these.

You have to click here on “create a new account”.

Here you just need to enter your name.

For example - I will write Vicky here. (few seconds pause as he is typing)

Here you can see, they're asking for your mobile number or email ID. Here I will recommend you to enter your email ID. Because it is very important to enter your email ID.

Because you can update your mobile number later on.

After that you have to select a new password.

Right now I'm entering my email ID. (7 seconds gap)

Copy it and paste it here.

I entered the password here.

We have to enter our birth date here.

Entering Birthdate is a little bit tough. Simply just enter your date of birth.

You have to enter your birth year here. nothing else.

here you have to write your birth year.

Now you have to just click on “sign up” here.

But I will not click on sign up because I already have my account with this name and email ID.

Hence I don't need to make another one.

Let me tell you the next process after the sign up, if you are creating for the first time.

A Code will be sent on my email ID and the moment I enter that code here, my account will get created.

It is not that tough, no rocket science. You can do it easily.

But still if you face any issue here, then click the discussion button below the video and post there.

So I explained to you the simple technique of how you can create your Facebook account.

Let me click on “sign up” and let's see what happens next.

“Your email-id cannot be your password”. Ohh so I entered my email id as the password. Let me correct it now and enter the password. (6 seconds pause)

If you enter your email ID as your password, then Facebook will not accept that.

As you can see here, they are asking to enter code here.

So I must have received a code. We will go to Chrome and open my email ID.

I just need to copy and paste my code here.

As you can see, we will copy and paste our code here.

I copied this code from the email I received on my email-id. That is, you will receive your code in your email ID.

As I had mentioned to you earlier, my account is already created. So what Facebook did here? They redirected me to my original account as I told you my account already exists on Facebook.

You just simply need to follow these steps.

This is how you can create your account by following some simple steps which I just explained to you.

This is a very easy process.

Now, our next topic is “Facebook dashboard”.

This is how your dashboard looks like. I am sure many of you already know that after creation of an account on facebook your dashboard will look like this and you have to follow it.

As you can see on my screen, my name is displayed here and all other things are also there.

So it is very much important for us to understand the Facebook dashboard.

So here we will try to understand what kind of features are available on the Facebook dashboard.

You can see your Facebook account here. All the stories are shown like this, they are visible to you like this. You can check out any of the stories by opening them up.

We also have suggested stories here. So you can check out all these stories and browse them all.

It is very simple, isn't it?

 If you like any story then you can like them as well.

That is also very simple, just click on the like button.

 If you like any story, simply click on the “like” button then it will show some options as you can see on my screen and from there you can click on “like”.

And if you want to view that, then you can directly open it. (6 seconds pause as he is showing us to browse thru the stories)

Thus, it is very much simple to view stories on Facebook.

Right now we are trying to understand the dashboard. Before moving on to understand the dashboard, the stories are first visible to us.

You can see your stories as well by creating them.

It is very simple. When you open your Facebook in your mobile and the moment you click on your create story, you can upload your story there…

Right now we will try to understand this dashboard…

You can see my profile here. Let’s say If I click on my profile, then you can see my detailed profile.

Now it will show all the details about me.

If I click on “about” section, it will show everything about me, like

where I belong from - lives in Pune Maharashtra,

then from where I studied,

 what is my current job,

what is my work,

about my past company.

It shows everything about me.

This is very easy.

Then we have “work and education”.

It shows in my work that I am “digital marketing trainer at Learnvern”,

“chief marketing officer” at “clever mind media”.

It is also showing my previous company.

You can enter your universities here as well. That is a very simple process.

Here You can enter all the cities where you have traveled , where you have lived. You can enter all the basic details like this.

It does not include any kind of rocket science.

Right now, I'm trying to explain to you the dashboard. How it works and what all you need to understand here.

here you will see contact and find all the details that will be visible to the public as well.

Under Basic information you have language, your views, etc. You can see all the contact and basic information here which will be shown to the general public.

You don't need to fill in all the basic information here, but it all depends upon your choice.

You'll find most Facebook personal accounts private because people don't like to share all the information with the general public. Hence you don't need to fill in all the basic information here.

here you can see “family and relationships”, “details about you”. After that there are life events. till now I didn't enter any life events here.

I also didn't enter details about my nickname because that is not very important for me.

But still we have to understand the dashboard and what it includes.

If I enter my profile again, you can see everything here. You can add your hobbies here. Let's see if I enter in the featured, I can keep any story in the featured. That will be shown to everyone.

Like you have seen the Instagram highlights. I will show you that.(5 seconds pause) highlights (10 seconds pause).

You can see highlights here…. The highlight which you can see here, it is featured.

If any new person comes here, then he can see those highlights.

You can see all of those things here.

Let's go to our account, we have to understand a little more things there.

Now you can see a friend option there. If you click on the friend option, you will see all the requests received by you. Here you can see friends' suggestions as well.

here “people you may know”. here you will find suggestions, you can add friends as per your choice.

You can add your friend here as well. Like here you can see, Lavnish, Yash, nimesh and Bharat, I know all of them. But the question is, how does Facebook know that they are my friends?

I will explain that to you as well.

See what happens, when you meet someone and you will get his/her friend suggestions on your Facebook account till evening.

How come I will tell you. What Facebook does, when you meet with a new friend and you take his number. If that number is linked with your Facebook account then they will suggest that person as your Facebook friend.

This is a really simple process.

I took my friend's number and if that number is linked with his Facebook account, then he will soon be in my Facebook friend suggestions.

What Facebook does, they have access to our contacts.

Let's say I have 100 contacts on Facebook.

If I open the Facebook application and in my device there are 100 contacts, out of that 100 contacts 70 people are using Facebook, then I will get suggestions of that 70 accounts in Facebook.

So you can see here, 70 to 80% of people are those people whose number is saved in my mobile.

But there are some people whose number is not saved and it might be possible that I don't know many of them.

So Facebook shows mutual friends means friends of friends.

Let’s understand this by an example. Here it is Vrutant and his number is saved with me but I don’t have Aakash's number. So it might be possible that Vrutant may be a friend of Aakash.

That is a mutual friend. Here in Vrutant, 20 friends are mutual friends.

This is a very simple process.

I tried to explain to you how the friend option works here and whose account you can see.

Here it is a friend request. you can accept friend requests from everyone. It all depends upon your choice, I cannot suggest to you whose friend request should be accepted or not.

You will find lots of good friends here.

next is suggestions as well. They are giving me suggestions to become friends. You will find some of your school friends here or your college friends here. 

All friends means it is showing my all friends. It is showing all my 500 Facebook friends.

You can see birthdays here as well. Who's birthday is coming next. It helps us a lot.

We might forget our friend's birthday but Facebook does remember that.

Facebook suggests here by, who's birthday is coming next.

It also shows how many people's birthdays are in November, then how many people's birthdays are in December, then whose birthday is in January, February etc. Facebook search full calendars with you.

This is a very easy process for us.

Here is a custom list. This is not that useful.

You can create your list.

This is for exploring.

Let's come back here, I completed the friend section.

Let's shift to the pages. As you can see here, I'm currently handling 50 pages.

All 50 pages are being shown here. And it is also showing whose page I'm handling right now.

Currently I am handling 50 pages, if you are handling some pages then it will be shown here and if not then here it will be shown as zero.

You can see everything here. This is a very simple process.

These are Facebook business pages. We will cover business pages in a separate topic.

Here we are trying to understand the dashboard.

here it is a group. You can see all the groups here. Last, I joined the NFT group.

I can see an NFT group here. It is one another group of fundamentals of digital marketing.

Here it is showing a group that is related to digital marketing.

Creation of a Group is also very simple. I will also try to explain to you how we can create a group.

There is not that much rocket science. it is not tough, That is a very easy process.

You can join groups as per your interest. Here you can see, Ahmedabad rojgar, freelancer jobs, travel Leads, flat and flatmate Ahmedabad. You can see I joined lots of groups here. Some are related to digital marketing.

If I need to search for a new group here. Then I will type here like, cryptocurrency groups, as you know it is very much in trending currently.

Let's say I have to join this group. in some good groups they might ask you some questions.

It will also show that, by which account you want to join that group.

Like, here I have lots of Facebook business pages. So they will ask from which business page I want to enter.

I click on join group.

Let's say I search for groups related to NFT or NFT Market. (typing)

I have a business page related to NFT. I can join this group with that page.

Currently it is not showing here. there is no issue at all.

If you want to display from your business page account then you can.

The moment I add the group, the Admin of that group will accept my request and that notification will be shown to me.

I have to answer this question, like it is asking whether I will do any spam or not, I click on I agree.

Next they are asking “I will not repost the same content”, I also agree with that.

I'm clicking on every question. And the moment I click on the submit button, that request will be sent.

Currently most people ask these questions because lots of people after joining those groups start their own promotions.

That doesn't look good.

Because we create groups for awareness and information. As you can see here I'm adding in lots of groups.

I'm joining different kinds of groups, because I need information related to those topics.

As you can see here “NFT artist”. I can see NFT related groups here.

This is a very simple process. How you will create your group I will tell you later on.

After that it is a marketplace.

Marketplaces are very important for us. Why that is important and what is their benefit I will explain to you that.

As I told you, this is a marketplace.

We will understand that in the next topic. We will continue the marketplace and dashboard in the next topic.
