  • Connect the switch to the outlet.

When the data switch resides in a VLAN, there may be three common switch port types: access port, trunk port and hybrid port

Because there is no display device for a Gigabit Ethernet switch, the console port is used to connect a computer directly to the switch and administer it. In most circumstances, configuring your network switch is the initial step. The methods for logging in to a network switch via the console port are outlined below.

The main benefit of using a switch is that it can transmit data faster than a hub. A switch is an important networking device that forwards data packets between the computers attached to the network. The switch has two or more ports, where each port connects to a computer. If one port receives packets faster than it can handle, it will automatically forward them to the other ports so they are not lost. This allows for much quicker transmission of data packets, which means less waiting time for users between pressing send and getting their reply.
