FAQs

A style is a set of properties that define the look and feel of a particular View. Font colour, font size, background colour, and many other aspects can be specified in a style. A theme is a set of characteristics that are applied to a complete app, activity, or view hierarchy, rather than just a single view.

An Android theme is simply an Android style that is applied to a full Activity or application rather than a single View. As a result, when a style is applied as a theme, every View in the Activity or application will use each of the style properties that it supports.

Right-click on the res folder, select New --> Android resource file, name the new file "styles," select the last item "Version" from the Available qualifiers list, and finally select "Platform API level" 21.

Installing Android Themes via the Google Play Store You'll need to install an Android launcher before you can install the themes from the Google Play Store. When you open a theme after downloading it, you'll be required to download and install the necessary launcher.

In the new Android Studio, there is no need for a styles.xml file. Go to the Res>Values>Themes folder in your project's file view.
