Android Version and its History

In the last lecture, we saw what is Android Mobile Application? In this Video Tutorial we will see what is the Android Operating System. Android is an open source Linux settled operating system which was developed in 2009. Android was developed in Open Handset Alliance, later it got support from Google and other companies. Open Handset Alliance which is a group whose basic task is to launch a better cell phone in the market. We mostly use Android for smartphones only. Android was first invented in 2007. Since then, it has become the world's most demanding and popular OS (Operating System). There is a small child in the house, he also knows Android today even if his reason is to play Android games.

 

Different versions of Android are available with us, so we will see these Android version List in a little detail.

In the above table we given the Android Version list with their Code Name, Android version number with their version release date and API level. The API level is an integer value that identifies the frame work. The release date of each platform is also available to us.

There are two interesting facts of Android version that we need to know. The first fact is that the names of all versions of Android have been alphabetically arranged. The second interesting factor, if seen, is that behind the name of each platform, a sweet or dessert has been named. Like C for Cupcake, D for Donut, and E for Eclair etc.
