These are the different effects that you can create in Illustrator:
Drop Shadow: creates a shadow below the object
Gradient Overlay: creates a gradient over an object
Pattern Overlay: applies a pattern over an object
Tileable Texture Image: creates a texture image that can be tiled or repeated on other objects
Texturizer: applies texture to text
The Effects panel is the most commonly used tool in the Illustrator effects. It allows you to apply a variety of different effects to your art, such as blurs, glows, and shadows.
The Effect menu at the top of the screen in Adobe Illustrator contains a number of effects that you may use to edit forms in a variety of ways.
In the Swatches panel or the Tools panel, you've picked the frame and Formatting Affects Text (the T button). In this scenario, utilise the keyboard shortcut j or the Formatting Affects Container button. You must have the frame chosen in order to apply effects on text.
