Illustrator Skills Needed:

  • Superior drawing, sketching, and painting abilities.
  • Photographic abilities are excellent."

Although certain entry-level positions require only a high school certificate and extraordinary drawing skills, most illustrators have at least an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Illustration.

Character designers frequently work in an animation or design studio's office. They usually work full-time, putting in at least 40 hours every week. Other character designers may operate on a project-by-project basis or as freelancers.
