Blend Tool in Illustrator

How To Use Blend Tool In Illustrator?

In this video, we will talk about the blend tool. Its shortcut key is W. Also, from the object menu, you can open it.

AI’s Blend tool lets you combine shapes and colors between two or more objects to create a new thing. The Blend tool blends colors as well as shapes. Also, you can change the spacing between things. There are three options to change the spacing in blending options: Smooth color, specified steps & specified distance. Working of all three is shown in the video.

You can change blending orientation as per requirement. Also, you can move your blending objects by selecting them. Here, another example of leaves blending is given. You can change the stroke color to give the effect of shading.

To transform blending into any shape -

  • First select blend & shape.
  • Then go to the object and select the blend option.
  • Click on replace spine.

You will see your blend is converted into a particular shape. Up to now, we have learned blending for logo designing. Let’s see color blend for stationery design. For that, draw two arcs and give them blending from the object menu. You will see an open path blend. You can modify patterns using the direct selection tool as shown.

To make a design in stationery, open a ‘new from template’ from the File menu—open business card templates from that. You can adjust the size of it from the document setup. Now do as directed in the video to design a business card.
