Feedback can be difficult for both giver and receiver. Givers often find it difficult to provide feedback because they feel like they are being asked too much, while receivers often find it hard to receive feedback because they feel like the giver is being insensitive.

Feedback is a key part of the learning process. It helps us improve ourselves and our work. Giving feedback can be difficult, but receiving it can be even more challenging.

Benefits of giving and receiving feedback:

  • It helps us improve ourselves and our work
  • It builds trust between the person giving the feedback and the person receiving it

The first step in receiving feedback effectively is knowing what type of feedback you want from the person giving it to you. There are three types:

  • Positive feedback
  • Negative Feedback
  • Constructive Feedback

The importance of feedback can be understood by the following:

  • Feedback helps us to improve our skills.
  • Feedback helps us learn from our mistakes.
  • Feedback allows us to see how we compare with others in the same field or company.

Giving feedback:

  • You might have to be specific about what you want to say in order to get the point across without hurting feelings.
  • The person receiving the feedback might need time in order to process what you said and how it makes them feel. They might even need time for their emotions to settle down before they can hear your advice properly.

Receiving feedback:

  • Receiving criticism is hard but can help us grow as people and improve our skillsets over time.
