Designing a poster is a lot like designing an article or brochure. You need to know your audience, figure out what you want to say and then design the poster around those two things. This means you need to know who your audience is and what type of information they want, and then design the poster so that it gives them what they want.

There are many tools in Photoshop that can be used to design posters. For example, the Rectangular Marquee Tool can be used to grab a section of your poster and make it black and white. Additionally, the Gradient Tool can be used to add some color and creativity to your poster.

In Photoshop, a color can be selected by clicking on the color palette on the window to the left. Users can also click "I" to bring up a color wheel and select a desired hue. This is where I would combine colors, as it is possible to drag colors from the wheel into the palette.
