How To Use Dodge, Burn and Sponge Tool In Adobe Photoshop

Dodge Tool : It is used to make an image lighter from darker.

  • Select the Dodge tool  
  • Choose a brush tip and set brush options in the options bar
  • Drag over the part of the image you want to lighten 

Burn Tool :  The Burn tool darken areas of the image. Sometimes, due to natural light, Photographs appear shiny. To remove that, burn tool is used. 

Sponge Tool : To make some part of image black and white, sponge tool is used. This gives very nice effect to photographs.

The dodge tool is an essential tool in photoshop. It is used to lighten the pixels of an image. By using this tool, you can selectively brighten the shadows of your image or lighten up a certain area that needs some work.

The Burn Tool is a tool that darkens an image by adding dark pixels to a specific area. When a pixel from the Burn Tool is applied, it increases the amount of darkness in the color. For example, if you select a yellow background and apply the Burn Tool, it will turn dark brown.
