We will learn how to merge layers and where layer merging is used.

You can lock layers from layers tool. You can lock single or all layers from that tool. There are more options in tool like Lock transparency, lock image pixels etc.

As shown in video, you can give effects to an object like dissolve, darken, color burn. For this effect, two layers are required. You will see effect of first layer on second layer. Merge down is used for merging the consecutive layers.

In merge down, two layers will become one. Merge visible merges the layers which are visible. Flatten image merge all layers into background layer.
